You know Pull-A-Part will take any junk 4 cylinder as a core don't you?  Their core charges are to make up for what they are loosing in scrap value when the heavier parts are removed from the car.

I kinda figured that,  looks like it's gonna be road trip time,  do they have stuff to help get it around,  I'd probably have to put it in the back of the wagon

I've never been to the one in Knoxville.  The ones in Atlanta all have big A frames you can use.  I think the guys on the yard willl move them for you with their big fork lift.  The only time I pulled an engine, it was right across the row from the car I pulled it from and it was on 15" wheels, so Kyle and just pushed it over.  It didn't have a chain hoist, it was just the A Frame, but I had a strap style come-a-long.  Once we got it out and on the ground, one of the guys working there carried it to the checkout stand on the big forklift.

Knoxville has the A frame. They also have a group of Mexicans that drive a big off road fork lift around and will take it to the front for you. It's a pretty well compacted gravel lot and I've seen people push huge engines or transmissions around in wheelbarrows. They even have some that are dualies. It's pretty easy and straight forward but read up on their rules early and plan accordingly. No jacks, no power tools (although battery powered ones seem ok?!?!) no cutting torches or tanks.

The A frame always seems to be in use when I go, so plan for extra time in waiting.

When Kyle and I pulled that one in Atlanta, he cut everything (Hoses, wires, cables, etc.) loose from the engine with bolt cutters, and cut the exhaust with a hack saw.  We knocked the ball joints loose and pulled the axles out.  We took the hood off, took the motor mount bolts out and then pulled it out the top with the A-Frame and my come-a-long.  About 45 minutes after we started, the engine and transmission were sitting on the ground in front of the car.

Pulled the oil pan and didn't find a reason for the engine being locked up,  next step pull the valve cover
