Off-Road Rail Buggy For Sale - Anyone interested?

« on: December 26, 2001, 07:42:33 PM »
A guy I work with told me today that he wants to sell an old off-road rail buggy he got in a trade a while back.  He says it has a good running 1600 Dual Port engine and drives good.  He said that it needs some seats and could use a new paint job, but overall is in pretty decent shape.  It has headlights and spot lights, but no tail lights.  I ask if it was a short or long wheelbase, and he said it's pretty short . . . it'll pop a wheely without any trouble.  He priced it to me at $400 and said that if I bought it this week he could come down on the price "just a little."

It sounds like a good deal, but I don't have the money right now so there is no need in me even looking at it.  If anyone else is interested, I'll get his phone # for you.  He lives in Trion, GA.

It's probably a Type 3 (or Type 3 Ghia, if it is thought to be a Ghia)

A lot of people don't care for them but they are fairly rare (read: real expensive to restore, can't find model specific parts)

Letsbuggy - I don't know if he's working today.  I'll try to find him to get his #.  He gave me directions but I didn't write them down.  These may not be exact, but it'll get you in the general area and maybe you can figure out if it's the one you've seen:

Going out of Trion, go past the new school and you'll pass a store . . . take the next road to the left, then the first road to the left off of it, and it's the 5th house on the right.  Again, that's totally from my memory, so I wouldn't bet on it being correct.

I'll get the # and leave it for you ASAP.

Here are some pictures of a Type 3 Ghia:

is the t3 ghia taken?
what's the deal on it :questions:

if so, let's get a thread going for it and get it's discussion out of this rail buggy thread.

Hey LetsBuggy, sorry to not get back with you with the guy's phone # . . . I don't think he was working Friday, and I won't be back at work until Wednesday.  I'll get you the # then.

Sorry about not posting this sooner . . . I guess he got paid and decided he didn't need the money quite as bad now.  He said he wants to wait until spring to sell it so he can get more money for it.
