Looking for Cheap Transportation

« on: November 17, 2014, 10:16:08 PM »
A friend of mine at work ask me if I knew of any decent vehicles for sale at a reasonable price.  His son just totaled his car and needs dependable transportation.  He said it doesn't have to be super nice, just basic dependable transportation . . . and the cheaper the better.  I know . . . cheap and dependable usually don't go together, but I told him I'd ask around.

I can ask my brother if he still has his 94 dodge spirit. Was a daily driver up until about a month ago when he bought a new passat. It has a fully rebuilt/converted AC system that blows cold, new tires, new struts, recent alignment (I did all the work...for better or worse). It needed a cat and wouldn't pass hamilton county emissions sniff test but the car I think had like 110k on the clock. I think he was asking $600. Body was pretty beat, interior was really nice but like I said I haven't talked to him in a few weeks so I don't know if he still has it. If that sounds like something your friend would be interested in let me know and I'll give my brother a call.

Maybe because I showed up for work every day for over 5 years in a truck that was given to me to haul off?  But I don't think he knows I worked on it 4 hours every afternoon so I could make it back the next day.   8)

Travis, he might be interested in the Jetta.  He said his son wanted an automatic, but he's going to talk to him about it and see if he will settle for a manual.  I'll let you know when I hear back from him.

The nice thing about the manual Is they are pretty much bullet proof

Yeah...avoid automatics from that era. Not only will learning a manual be a useful skill, it'll be better on gas mileage and you won't have to worry about expensive transmission repairs.
