Didnt we have this conversation already??? I thought I gave you a list of samba adds to look at in that price range???? Oh well start over I guess.
It's pretty hard to find a good solid bug that runs for $3000. It can be done if your willing to "pay as you go" and daily it like your saying,Again I warn you what you skimp on in the intial purchase will come out of your pocket sooner or later anyways. Good luck,I'll keep lookin around for ya.

We did have this conversation. I have been to Knoxville, Cleveland and Atlanta looking at bugs. Some were pretty good, but had too much metal work for me to feel comfortable with...

One guy told me(on a Craigslist) there was a few small holes in the floor pans. When we went out and looked, the seat was falling through
He said I could drive it if I "hovered" :)

I have enjoyed every trip though :) My Buddy Steve is now going to get one and we are planning another Road trip tomorrow on a '66 he just found.

Wish us luck!

You know BugMike we are replacing the pans on FeeBee and it really has not been that difficult(for me) Seriously I have watched and it didn't look that hard. One thing I have found with the fixer upper FeeBeeb is that parts (most of them) are very inexpensive cept for that quarter window scraper I just paid 79.00 a piece for. I think that unless the Bug has been restored there will be floorpan problems. The worst part of FeeB's floor pans were that someone had tried to patch them first. See even as I sit here typing Rick is under FeeBee (still) installing the floorpans and trying to remember why he loves me

There are bargins still out there, but they are getting fewer and further between every day.  A friend of mine just traded an old S-10 he had about $500 tied up in for a pretty solid 74 Beetle with a new engine and new paint.  Just needed the glass and interior installed . . . they were included, just not installed.

Key words 74 beetle.  But yeah the deals are out there. 67 and down are getting harder to find "deals" on.64 and down it's getting really hard to find one worth messing with on the east coast. The south does horrible things to the poor critters. 68-70 seems to be the decent ones for pretty cheap.

You have to excuse me I have an illness in that I refuse to acknowledge that vw made anything past 1967.  If your looking for somthing to fix up I'd say 65-70 could be found with a decent deal.  In those years 67's and 70's may be a lil higher. I haven't been into the aircooled vw game long but trust me I have bought and sold alot of em and haven't kept many. When you find a real good solid one around here you might want to hold on to it.

The earlier car you can find and afford the better off you will be if you decide to sell it later or "upgrade" to a nicer one. For whatever reason the buying prices are high around town as well as demand.Having said that I have aquired alot of cars within 2 hrs of here for way cheap. It can be a long hard search to find your bug but you will know when you do. :D

Heres an example of what would have been the find of the week that parts got sold off it and then rescavenged and recycled.

This car would be in my driveway if it had all the og fenders and stuff.

here's a great example of someone I'd like to choke. Take an original paint car and rattle can it flat black cause it's kewl!!!
About 3 days of work and 12 cans of easy off would undo his "work".
Then another day or 2 With some good wax and it would look sweet.

For 2k and some change..... maybe but not 3k.

Steve and I road up to look at that one on Tues. I like it and would have probably gotten it but there is a big gash in the front right panel(about 14 in long). You would have to replace that panel and there was some other things that I could not do metal work wise. It had been Baja'ed and them pieces back together. The interior was nice and the owner a really nice guy. Just too much work for me.

Here's an idea buy mine!!! I just updated the info and the car will be ready at the end of the week. 4k to site members. Not negotiable on price,it's a good solid car and a desirable year as well. My daily for almost 3 years.
price is what I paid before all the work so It's a s fair as I can be. Need the space for a new toy.
