Looking for a Beetle!

« Reply #30 on: October 07, 2008, 05:22:46 PM »
Well, an update... Looked at 4 or 5 cars. Thought I had a '61 till I noticed(looking under the car, duh) that the floor pans were totally shot.

After Circle your wagons, I have also decided I want a 60's Bus! :)

So, I am still looking...
Also I'd like to say I appreciate people like 67bugnut and others who have answered my many questions and tried to help me on my quest.

Thanks!

I wanted to say Hello first, my wife and I have 2 beetles we love currently, a 58+ vert and a 65 (Daily Driver), but we are also looking for a thing.
And since it was stated that the good ones never make The Samba / Craigslist, etc. I thought I would ask the crew a little up north from us if you all had any recommendations.

Thanks,
   Chris

Bugmike,be carefull on the split window bus,They are very exspensive to restore and keep up. A beetle is straight forward, pop the body off put in pans and go. A bus requires exstensive work to repair and parts can be more than scarce in some cases. Also the entry price for a split bus will probably make your head spin. I love a good split bus,but be ready to fork out some dough.

Be careful what you ask for.   I have my hooks on  a 23 window that suppose to be fairly rust free and the owner is not really sure what year it is. I haven't seen it in person, but a close friend of mine has.  I'm going to check it out this weekend. I have my fingers crossed.  The price is right and I mean right if it is what my friend says.

I think he's been huffing his cans of Bus-be-Gone and it's having some sort of reverse effect.

Sometimes I have noticed they tend to lose focus. You have to reel 'em back in  Was money ever discussed about your Bug hunt?
