Believe it or not , I have the pulley nut that the crank fits in. VW use those bolts all though the '50's but no crank.

I thought the video of the engine might be of some assistance as well.
David,
What is the oldes VW that you have ever lain hands on to work on?
Did any of the WW2 or early stuff ever find it's way to the dealer in Chattanooga?
Just curious.

Restored a '49 VW standard, totaly restored the 25 hp engine with all OEM parts, went through the 4 speed "crash box tranny, rebuilt the cable operated brake system. This car was found in a chicken barn in Harriman Tn in 1973. A friend of mine bought it from the original owner, a 80 year old WW2 vet. for $ 175. The speedo showed about 40,000 miles after we converted Kilo to miles. Believe it or not he took a battery ,gas/hoses,air compressor, oil and his small tool kit and got the dang thing started and drove it back here with oil pouring out of every seal on the engine. But he made it. Last time I heard about it was it was now living in the Virgin Islands.
The only old car that I worked on at the dealership was a 1951 standard that owner sold Watkins Products out of . There wasn't a straight piece on that old Bug. I believe it had been a dark blue color at one time, but it ran just fine. ;D
Never saw any WW-2 VW's at all. >:(
