The Rims do not have slots on the disc. The '66-67 Bug has slots . '68 up were all 4 lug W/slots like Stupie has.

The horn ring doesn't appear be broken off, looks like it was made without one . . . 64 and early 65's didn't have a horn ring. Earlier and later did.

So you can tell from them bent up old rusty rims that it is smoothie.

I actually went and looked at this one.  The owner told me it was a '65.  He also had a '64 as well.  The '64 was in much better shape but the engine was laying in the back seat in pieces.  The blue one has a mixture of smooth and slotted wheels.  I believe the '64 had all smooth wheels.  Both seemed to be restorable but with much work to be done.  I looked at them in the dark.

When I went to look at them, he told me I could have them both for $600.  I really want the body off of the '65 (one not pictured) to put on my '72 pan (if that will work) if the body is in no worse shape than my current one.

Floor pans, heater channels and windshield, rebuild the 40 horse, go through the brakes and it would be a pretty sweet driver!  If you can do your own welding and wrenching, it wouldn't really cost all that much . . . well, if you don't count your labor, it wouldn't cost that much.   8)
