Greetings all.
I have owned volkswagens since before I could drive. My Karmann Ghia 1972 coupe and 1979 Porsche 924 were damaged beyond repair in a house fire in June of this year. Both were parked outside the house but were still damaged by the heat and flames.
The good news for you is that there is a 1972 VW with a absolute bone stock number matching engine in it with 5000 miles on it. For this engine the case has had two prior rebuilds. The transmission is stock and was rebuilt in 1994 after over 250,000 miles. The car had a total of 399,000 on it. The body is intact still in one piece. All marker lights and exterior trim was burned off the car. The interior is heavily damaged. The chassis is likely recoverable if you are willing to find the bolts in all the char. This car had its original rocker panels and had amazingly good heat. Of all the VW's I have owned over the years, this one had the best heat.
The Porsche is in somewhat better condition as it was farther away from the fire. The exterior items on the car and much of the paint on the passenger side is gone. The interior is scorched but is still recognizable. The engine is complete and looks good. Like the VW almost all the glass is gone on the car.
As parts cars, both of these would be excellent body donors or engine donors. I owned the Ghia for 23 years and the Porsche for 10. It had been my intent to turn both into full restorations to factory condition. Most of the pieces intended for that restoration were incinerated in the house.
The cars are located in Athens, GA. I have a limited window of time left before I am forced to send them to a scrap yard because the demolition of my house and cleanup is scheduled to start in the next 10 days.
To own the cars all you have to do is contact me, show up with two flatbed wreckers or any haul vehicle that can remove both cars at once. I have the paperwork that is required to take legal ownership of them. Once you take them they are yours to do with as you wish. I cannot simply part them out where they sit due to the need to removed the concrete slab where they are located.

This is a serious and legitimate offer. However if they have not been claimed by someone who could use them as organ donors, I will have to sell them as scrap to the salvage yard.
