For a hack job, that doesn't look bad.

Pretty good fabrication in my opinion, I wouldnt go so far as calling it a hack.
To me Hack implies some random crap job of something vw never made. This one they did make at one time. Just an opinion I kinda like it,would make acess to the back seat pretty easy. 8)

The "build thread" (on the Samba forums, link is in the auction) has a bunch of pictures of "hack" in process.  The hinge section is from a driver's side door, it latches with a bus cargo door latch, and it's re-inforced underneath with a convertible bug re-inforcing rail.  The roof also has some hidden re-enforcement from front to back.  He did a super nice job on the fabrication!  I love it!  But, I don't think it wouldn't make it that much easier for ME to get in the back seat!

Hmmm...i don't know Zen, open both doors, take the seat out of the front.... might just work.... I need to look, i know i have photos somewhere of a four door taxi version, slightly extended, with all forward opening doors....it's around here somewhere.... :-k

And, i'd have to agree with Scott, i think this one is well done, wouldn't call it a hack job...I have seen "hack jobs" before.... i would prefer to call this a "one-off custom fabrication".....  but that's just because i like to use big words and stuff. :D
