Any Interest in my 2004 Schwagen?

« on: March 02, 2014, 10:32:28 PM »
Ok folks, You want to rock your trips to the grocery store or the soccer practice?  I have this super sweet wagon for sale or trade. It currently has 151k miles. It is sporting the 1.8T  engine that runs great. It has been lowered ~3 inches using Ebach racing springs and shortened struts. It is statically lowered and is not adjustable. It rides smooth and handles great. I will include the OEM struts / springs if you want to raise it back up (I wouldn't). We have owned this car for the past ~4 years.

Pros:it's cool as heck, it had timing belt, tensioner, water pump and all seals in the area replaced @ 107k miles. You should be good for another ~40k before it is needed again. I had the trans filter and fluid changed (~3 years ago), in the past 3 months I replaced (@ dealer) the rear coolant flange (and a rear sensor while they were in there), the coolant reservoir, and the thermostat housing (with new thermostat while in there). I was having some small coolant leaks, so every piece of plastic that comes in contact with the coolant has been replaced. I replaced the front and rear pads within the past 6 months. It could use new rotors on the front (pulsing while stopping, but does not affect braking effectiveness). New battery last October gold top from autozone. Has the gorilla guard cargo mats and the big mud mats from the dealer.  I also replaced the oil dip stick as it was beginning to deteriorate. Car has the optional votex spoiler and fog lights/ grills. AC and heat are great, has a fully functional sun roof.

The wheels, they are BBS CH-028's they came stock on an '08 Audi for one year only. They are true BBS wheels,  as such. They predate the "Motorsport"" CH's that you see now. I will sell it with out the wheels as described as below.

The Bad: It has a cloth interior. It has your average stains, not nasty, just not cleaned. If I cared about the car I would unbolt the seats and power scrub them. The driver's door mirror glass is missing, it is a common problem when people leave the defrost on in the summer. I have one of those large stick on domed mirrors stuck on it and I just use this. It has little scratches and small dings once again, not bad but there.

Check engine light is off, no smoke, trans shifts good - hard once in a while, but it is rare. Car burns/ leaks 1/2 qt of oil in 4k miles. I have ran nothing but Mobil 1 Extended performance oil (12k oil), and change it @ 4-6 k miles.

Why am I getting rid of this car? Wifey and I have 4 little girls now and the wagon will not hold us all. I bought her a brand new Routan Van last January, and I decided I would drive it until the wheels fell off of it, well last week one of the tires started showing steel, and I am not putting any monies into tires. I am looking at getting something more small and sporty since the wagon will not hold us any more. I have put some time into this decision, and I just need a smaller car for work. I have had it a the dealer and the service is up to date, it has some small issues, but I drive it every day.

The deal, I will sell the wagon with the BBS wheels for $4k. Yep that's right, and I am firm. I will sell it w/o the wheels  for $3100.  I am running 3 bbs and the steel full size spare now. It has a good tire and will last a while. The other back tire is pretty much worn completely out, literally. The front tires are pretty good, and will last for another 5k miles, but they are different sizes. One is a 225 40 18, the other is a 235 40 18, this causes you to drive with wheel off kilter.

The trade, any aircooled VW that I am interested in. Busses or beetles are preferred. I have never had a t3, so that would also be interested. Trades  should be valued by me @~$5k with wheels or ~$4k with out the wheels. Surface patina ok, rust through not ok. I do not need a project, I have no time.

Any interest at all?
I am probably getting a Jetta Sportwagen TDI 6 spd manual this week or next and would not like to trade this in.  Let me know. Just replaced a coil pack that was apparanty the cause of some issues I had been having.  Every piece of plastic that touches the coolant has been replaced (except radiator).
As a side note, if any one has a set of 5X112 steelies let me know.
I do not want to trade this in with the 18" BBS wheels on it.
Thanks.
