86 Scirocco

« on: October 24, 2008, 02:39:29 AM »
Well I think its time to sell the trusty Scirocco. Its been a great car with great fuel mileage since I've had it, but just tired of it since we got the Cabby.

VW Scirocco
Mars Red
5 speed manual transmission
170,000 miles
It is an '86 8v. It is runs strong and shifts well. I recently put a Eurosport
cat back exhaust system on it. It has Euro head lights installed. Interior is in
good shape. I just changed the head gasket a couple of months ago and changed
the output flange seals in the transmission. Interior is in good shape. Car was getting an average of 37 mpg highway mileage before moving to Savannah. I currently do hardly any highway currently. Is getting over 30 mpg city I believe. Blower motor does not currently work. I have changed a couple of times but keeps going out, maybe because installing used ones.

I also have extra doors, door glass, a 16v body kit, b3 passat duckbill, extra tails, and a
fifth teardrop. Stereo died a couple of days ago. It was a cheap one from Walmart that I installed about two years ago.

I am looking to get $2500 obo. I can provide more information and pictures upon request. Also free delivery to the Chattanooga area from Savannah.

Trust me.  Been looking at it.  Been wondering how two kids fit in there.  Been trying to remember the test drive I gave one many years ago.  Been wondering if there would be enough money after the sale of my Westy to do something about a cheap transportation vehicle.

Your kids would fit just fine, looks to be a pretty nice rocco. I've thought about it too.

Sale is going to postponed due to a coworker backing into passenger side front corner damaging the turn signal, fender, and hood.

Yeah

Going to get it inspected by a Geico person tomorrow. They're going to have a fun time with this one. Cause I haven't had any luck finding a euro turn lens yet. I'll probably end up making them respray the whole car too because there is no way in the world that the new paint on hood and fender will match the old paint.

You may have just sold it to Geico if it comes down to repianting it.

If they want to total it, talk to Justin . . . he fought an insurance company (not sure which one) when his Corrodo got rear-ended and they wanted to total it.  They ended up paying for the paint and body work even though it was a good bit over "book" value.

Well the estimate I had done yesterday was $982, but that was just painting the hood and fender. Its going to be impossible to find that turn lens too.

If the part # on your turn signal lens is 533-953-049-A they're still available at the dealer.

I have the Euro turn lens so I don't think any VW dealership will/can order it.

I think you have the part# on driver side Euro one though. I happen to own extra one of those.

Dropped it off at the body shop today and got stuck in a Mazda 3 as a rental. I'm not impressed with it either.

The passenger side is 533-953-050-A, which is also still available at the dealer.  Have the body shop get the part # off the old one to verify it but if that's the correct # then they can order it from us and have it in a couple of days.
