974 VW Beetle
Date: 2009-11-19, 12:31PM

Meet Georgina. She is a 1974 VW Beetle we bought on eBay in October, 2004. I have always been a Beetle junkie and had 2 while in college as well. Georgina came from New York and was named after her previous owner's grandmother. Georgina has a host of new parts and lots of work done, and I have all receipts since the purchase in 2004. A brand-new out-of-the-crate engine was installed in April, 2006 which runs like a Swiss watch. She sports a Bocar carburetor, Dunlop tires (decent tread left) and new brakes a couple years ago, although she will need a new master cylinder. The odometer reads 25,315 but she is a daily driver so obviously, that will change. Actual mileage is unknown. She will need some body work, as she has surface rust and some pitting/dings/scrapes. She originally came from Texas so underneath is rock-solid. Heater channels and rockers are excellent, she has surprisingly good heat, and the only problem area is under the battery (typical). Floor pans have light surface rust inside but no rot. I will include a can of POR-15 along with a folder of receipts, and even a couple VW books for the new owner. Georgina is NEVER driven in winter; as soon as the first snow is predicted, she goes to Winter Camp (a friend's garage) in Franklin. Yes, she does need some cosmetic work but you can drive her as she is or make her a great winter restoration project. I have a mechanic in Bellingham who does all the work on her. He's a VW guy and grew up fixing VW's. Please email me through Craigslist for more info, detailed photos, or to arrange a test drive. By the way, she just came back from the White Mountains in New Hampshire. She purred like a kitten the whole way up and back. Please give Georgina a new home for me, as we regretfully must part with her. Asking $2000 but am open to all reasonable offers. Please do not lowball; I will not give this car away. Thanks for looking and good luck.

Not a bad price really for a decent driver these days.

If it is really in the condition the ad says, it's not a bad price.  I've seen some real junkers go for about that or a little more lately.
