71 Super for sale, newly rebuilt engine, 1,650 OBO

« on: September 24, 2005, 10:03:55 AM »
Hey there everyone looks like I want to sell my 1971 super, this car runs out perfect, there are tons of new parts including main bearings, cam bearings, and rod bearings. Brand new heads, David did all the case work on it and the tranny work with 2 new syncs. I would like to get 1650 for it I have more than that invested. The pans are ok they have two holes that have been patched the rest of the pan looks good. The wing windows need locks. The car needs interior work but all in all looks great. Pop out windows, new brakes and wheel bearings in the front along with brand new tires and new tie rod ends and center tie rod. The wheel well is perfect too only one dime size hole in it and that is all..I have all receipts for the work that was done on this car. I have put new plugs, wires, dizzy cap, vaccum advance dizzy, new points on the car as well. It has the dp1600, with 85.5 mm pistons and jugs. I also have a brand new coil and bocar carb. This car will sit at 80 and not have a problem doing it.. I was going to get it painted but so far they haven't started on it so it will look like the pics.. This is the same car I have had since comming here.. Let me know thanks.. contact me and i will email more pics to ya..

Aaron,  After all the hard work you have done ?   You were just about there.  Hate to see you sell it unless you found something better.

Ah !!  A "Schooner with to much sail"    You better make a lot of money to keep up with tires and gas for that Beast. If you think a Porche is "tail happy" , wait until you drive that 5.0 on a wet road in the mountains. Be careful Aaron, I don`t want to read about you in the papers

WHY is this so hard to part with my dearly beloved buggie?

I really like him but I want a power car or a pre 65 and no one wants to trade for a super LOL.. Man you would think with what all I have done to this car it would sell.. Besides that on the gas, I wouldn't drive it all the time.. lol. I just baught me a 05 neon David. All by myself. The very first brand new car I have ever had... And it gets over 30mpg so only when work is up can I drive the stang...

Aaron, The paint job, if decent will help to sell it.  Some folks cannot see past a car that looks scuffey no matter how good it is in other ways. Supers are always a little harder to sell do to the "froggy" front end.
  Good Luck

Don't buy the Rustang! :P  Seriously The problem with the rear kicking out is for real. I had one and it had alot of power in a straight line but was horrible when raining or in a curve. No warning just spins. You will also find that the interiors are crap.  The plastic is very brittle and things break for no good reason. Oh well ,you were warned.

You want a "Power Car?"  You have it.  Just need to lower it a bit, add wide fenders, Porche wheels and build a 200+ hp type 4 engine with the upright cooling conversion (a.k.a. the German or Euro Look).  Supers are THE car for the German/Euro Look.  It just doesn't work well with regular Beetles.

If you do it right, it will handle better than a Mustang and on a bad day it'll kick the Mustang's butt on the strip OR street . . . plus if you keep your foot out of it, you can get 30 miles per gallon with it.  Use the right parts and put it together right and the engine will still be kicking butt long after the 5.0 has fell apart and been recycled into soup cans.  Get in touch with Zen Hardy (yes there IS more than one Zen in the southeast that is into Volkswagens!) and he can tell you all about it.

I can't remember talking to anyone who sold a 5.0 Mustang and now regrets it, but I've heard HUNDREDS of non-VW owners talking about the Beetle they or their parents owned years ago . . . all of them wish they still had it.  As RetBugtech would say . . . that's my opinion, but it's your coal truck.   8)

I will post some pics. I may end up taking it down from sale..

My god that car looks great... I have been wanting a stang for a long time. But as my feelings for my little buggy grow more and more I don't know if I can .. Dang it. .. Thanks everyone.. I appreciate it Jason, I will post pics once I get it.. But i will have to ask for more than 1650 that is for sure. I will ask about 22 for it then..

My poor beetle.. LOL... David can you help me build a mean engine ?ie suggest what to buy?
I would like to soup it up but keep my other engine so when I get tired of it I can sell it and put the stock back in..
