71 Super for parts...CHEAP

« on: July 27, 2009, 12:01:30 PM »
I found a 71 super beetle for sale, real cheap....

I have no desire for the car, but would like the engine out of it for one of my toys.  It is disassembled, has all four fenders, all glass, interior, etc.... someone many years ago installed a removable vinyl ragtop in it (lift out/ not slide open).....

Car has been sitting outside, can be had for less than $500....

No title, he can't remember where he got it from.  N.GA bill of sale folks, this is for you....It's been sitting for a long time...

Any interested parties?  Like i said i want the engine, but could care less for the whole car, in fact i don't even have the desire to part it out (hood is nice and straight too.... and it comes with a set of four gold empi 8-spokes off the car/ no tires and stock steelies with dr-rotted poly tires on them)
Dude wants to off-load the car whole, no parting it out.

Cert...
500 sounds like too much
If you give him 400 for the motor I'll give 100 for the rest of the junk.

Does it have a link pin or ball joint front end? I'll chip in $5 to set it on fire.

Dub tech,
I would be interested in the leftovers for the $250 if you can send me a photo.  It is the 1st year of the SB, so I guess it is worth trying to save...
How bad is all the body, pans ect....
Send Photos.

As a parts vehicle: 71/72 Super hoods in good condition are kind'a hard to find and usually expensive when you do.  From the windshield and dash back, it's the same as a Beetle.  In my opinion, 71/72 seats were the best high back seats ever installed in a type 1 (excluding some of the later Mexican Beetles) . . . the seat tracks had the simplicity of the old style seat tracks, but were super heavy duty.  If the seats and tracks are salvagable, they are worth the trouble to save and graft into any type 1 you want high backs in.  The front end parts will interchange with 71 - 73 Supers.  71 was the last year for the old style steering wheel.

As a Super Beetle parts car goes, a 71 is about as good as they come.

exactly what i was thinking, Zen.  I don't need another parts car, so i was avoiding buying a whole car, but for as little as this guy is asking, i really don't think one could go wrong, even if you just used it for parts.
