ok I've seen the little car now. I have some info on it for anyone interested. First off I do not know the owner but she was so nice I would feel bad not helping her out.
The car is not in horrible shape but would be best suited for a resto job. Motor seems very strong 1600dp w/ alternator. The motor is about 90 %original. Good things: Body is pretty straight Car would clean up decent and a little work would really go along way.Car Is restorable it isn't for parts.
The bad: remeber that I'm kinda picky. The hood(the one in the back) is pretty far gone as far as rust, the undercarrage has some holes that were repaired 7 years or so ago with fiberglass. The nose has a few tiny rust holes that are not very visable unless you crawl under it.There are a few fiberglass patches in the engine bay but nothing crazy. It needs a right pop out window and a tune up.Maybe a few other small things.
The thing is the little fellow is not so bad, a terrible shame not to restore it.
The bad thing is she has about $4000 in it and will take a loss on it. I think she would take about $2000 for it , and for someone it may be a great deal. I like my 67 bug and was looking for it to piddle with in my free time. I have to many open deals going on and can't afford to give the amount she needs for it. on that thought she is rather attached and was hoping to get more. I have a feeling I know how all the vw's end up in someones yard now. For the amount I offered she was better off keeping it.
So one of you ghia lovers rescue this poor little guy. Did I mention these are good people with a child on the way. If this person would have found you guys this Ghia would not be for sale. You young guys would have been fixing this thing for free.
