66 java green bug

« on: February 20, 2009, 09:14:10 AM »
A guy I know has a real nice 66 java green bug for sale. The car won a trophy for antishow at Bugapaluza. It's a very solid original car.
It has several Brazilian tinkets on it that are hard to find as well as torque thrust rims. I'm pretty sure it has a new motor as well as new tires and a few other goodies. The car is in Hickory NC the owners name is Ken if anyone is interested with cash in hand I'll get you in contact with him. This is not my car and I have nothing to gain by it's sale but I am familiar with the car as is Rick.

He might take a lil less without the rims and other goodies. Could be close to the 4k price range. This car is a stael if ya ask me.

Howie, I'm still getting over sticker shock for some of these cars but this might the Bug to go after. Looks really fine and it seems to have had most of the "grunt" work done already .  I have seen a lot of junk go for about the $$ if not more. 8)  8)

The guy that owned it redid everything on it but never got the motor right he traded it for a passat to the guy who has it now.  The engine was rebuilt recently by Ken the new owner and runs like a top. It has alot of rare stuff on it. If you let him keep the goodies you could get it less.
The big money items are the rims, roofrack, rock guards, albert mirrors, and steering wheel. Minus those you might be closer to 4k and either way the car is a steal!

If you have any questions I can get you in contact with the guy.
If I had the cash I would.

I know,  i'm always looking for the great deal,  the guy who found them in his basement etc.  Everyone want this stuff and the price is so high, I've been looking at swap coolers and banjo steering wheels also.  I'm just happy to have a running bug!

I spoke with the owner today, I was wrong he wants $4600 bring your own rims. He said he was negotiable but would have to get a bit more for it the way it sits. The only problem with it is it needs a master cylinder.
By what I'm hearing somewhere between 5k and 5.5k would buy it as it looks in the picture. You wont find one around here that good for 5k.
