64 Bug, a Type 3 Engine, other VW stuff ...

« on: September 16, 2003, 11:14:01 PM »
One of Joy's coworkers gave her this info today.  I don't have the space, time, or money to even think about it, buy someone else here might:

For sale to best offer (and he wants it gone soon) . . . 64 Bug.  Supposedly runs good has a pretty good interior and a very straight body just about ready for paint.  Also has a good type 3 engine, an engine test stand of some kind and other miscellanious VW stuff.  Contact Crandall Corbin at 706-638-1998.

If anyone wants me to check it out for them, just let me know.  He's only about 10 miles from my house.

Zen,
Would you please check out the Type 3 engine and the engine stand for me...please?
I might have time to go look at this stuff myself, but I'm not sure when the chance would show up.

On the plus side, it's a 1600 Dual Port with carbs, and it's complete, including carbs, breather, all the tin, etc. just as it was pulled from the car.  On the minus side, it's NOT running.  It needed rebuilding many, many years ago when he pulled it out of the car (with the intent on installing it in rail buggy that never got built) and it now siezed.

As for what he want's for it . . . all he'd say is he gave $100 for it, but that was years ago.  Just like the bug, he says he's letting it go for the best offer.

After looking at the 64, I might be making him an offer on it.  It's a straight, solid car and is still powered by a 6 Volt/40 Horsepower engine.  It runs and drives great . . . just doesn't have any brakes. Well, the e-brake does work, but stepping on the pedal feels like stepping on rotten grape . . . and has about the same braking affect.   :D
