Only need one.  One shot,One dead Dasher ;D

I think he might have been refering to the Dasher, not the musket . . . so the question stands . . . Didn't you have TWO?   ;D  Maybe you should buy this one.  You know what they say, "Third time's a charm!"   ;D

I think we should make the Dasher a club project. Fix it up, paint it the club colors, blue and white, and make it our club mascot. Great idea don't you think?????

Not a bad idea!  Maybe it would even cure David of his "Dasherphobia."   ;D  If the club wants to take it on, I'll gladly donate it.  If the engine can be freed up without any damage to the rings or cylinder walls, I've already bought 95% of the parts to make it roadworthy.  It needs:

The engine freed up
Head gasket replaced
A battery
Struts installed
A small hole in the exhuast welded up
A tailpipe hanger replaced
Rear suspension lifted (springs are sagging . . . I bought a spring lift kit, but never installed it . . . really needs new springs, but it's a '79 Dasher. Why buy new springs for it?)
A good cleaning inside and out
Paint

I think it should be painted the same colors as the famous Dasher Baghdad cab That we have seen on the news . I'll supply the bullet holes.  And yes I did own 2 .  They are the reason I'm white headed. I would bet that a lot of our young "Newbys" would know what a Dasher was. Thank God.
Good idea about a club project and Zen would be spared the mental torture of having to see that "Thing" everyday. ;D ;D

Well Dave, what if we took the Dasher badges off and called it a 1st generation Passat, would that work?    ;)

Don't worry David, I towed it down to my cabin so I don't have to see it every day.  It WAS driving me crazy having to see it sitting in the yard every day and not being able to drive it.

Yep, we could pretend it wasn't built for the US market and call it a Passat like the rest of the world did.  I bet we could even find some correct European Passat badges to replace the Dasher ones . . . But then, I don't know how much it would help.  Passats probably rate somewhere between Dashers and Type 4 powered Bay Window Buses on Davids list of favorite VWs.
