1974 Standard Beetle Sold!!

« on: September 07, 2009, 05:27:29 PM »
Up for sale is a solid 74 standard beetle.  Has new brakes including master cylinder, wheel cylinders, rubber hoses, and shoes.  Also has new rear shocks.  These parts have zero miles on them.  They are installed, but the brakes need the shoes adjusted.  The car has no motor.  The transmission is good and the body is nice and solid with the only rust issue being by the rear quarter window on the passenger side.  The battery tray area has been repaired at one time.  Interior is nice, but missing drivers door panel.  Has one peice window kit in the doors.  Put in your motor and get this thing back on the road.  I do not have a title for this car because it was bought in GA, so only a bill of sale.  Asking $400 for a quick sale.  The car is definitly worth it, even if you just use it for cheap transportation.

I just went through that for Albert.  Who ever owns it now has to get a Ga.title if he lives there.  If not, it will be a bitch but it can be done    I,ll not go through that again.

I don't know about Ala.  but the law has changed in Ga. Somebody is going to have to register it in Ga. to get a title, buy a tag and carry ins. (Ga requires  Ins. before he can get the title)  Tn will not accept "Toilet paper" bills of sale from Ga.  Along time ago there was no title law in Ga. and I may be wrong on the dates here but I think that '74 is late enough to have had a title which now presents a whole new batch of other problems of running down the owner who last reg.  the car  and try to apply for a lost title and the hope it is not a stolen car. I'll not go through that mess again. No title no sale.
Zen would know what to do there I think

Getting a title

« Reply #7 on: September 09, 2009, 09:07:16 PM »
It can be a pain to get a title in the state of TN.  Although I've heard of some people just getting a Police officer to verify the vin and then taking it to the registration office with a paper and getting a car registered that way.  I know my registration office will not do it.  I've been through it all too and found the easiest way to get a title is to pay a title company to get a title for your vintage car.  I had a Datsun truck that I had to go that route after buying it from an owner in Ga. without a title.  Here is the link and it only took $130 and I had a title (this was after loosing $100 trying to register it in GA with help from a friend).  Here is the link

Getting a title for this car or registering this car is up to the buyer.  I am just passing on info that helped me obtain a title for one of my own vehicles.
