Up for sale is a very nice and 1302LS super beetle. First year of the Super (1302) Bought from the second owner, who was friends and the mechanic for the first owner. This was originally a overseas delivery program beetle from what we were told. It has the 1302 LS badge on the back and as you probably noticed, it has low back seats instead of the high backs. The car currently has 137k miles on the odometer and still has the original motor and transmission that work great. The car has never been restored and the interior is in very nice condition with the original headliner, carpet, seats and all. The drivers seat and rear seat have some tears in the as shown from the car sitting in the sun for 3 years. Everything works on the car except the defrost fan. The heat worked great during the colder months as well. Some window seals have been replaced and there are no leaks. Minor surface rust on the outside where the car sat out for three years before we bought, but again minor. The floors are perfect and the exterior is in great shape too, almost like the car was from the west coast it is so clean. We have done some mechanical work to the car since purchasing it due to it sitting for those three long years. All brakes have been replaced with new disc kit from CB performance up front, SS braided lines on all fours, new master and rear brakes. Also has a new steering dampner up front. I took the engine out and had all the tin powdercoated with new hardware along with some other items to make it run better. (I have all original engine parts except the manifold because the heat risers were rusted) The engine now has a set of low mileage 36mm Dellorto carbs with polished hex bar and manifolds. CE billet pulley so timing can be set more accuretly, original german 009 dist and blue coil, and bugpack dual quiet pack muffler. The engine runs excellent with some nice power for a stock 1600 that has never been rebuilt. Does not smoke or chatter, just the normal oil leak from a higher mileage motor. The valve covers seem to be leaking a little at the momemt too, but just needs new seals. The mechanical end of the car is excellent, could use a paint job to really bring the car back to it's former glory. We also cleaned up the original rims and mounted brand new Michelin XZX 165 tires which were not cheap. Optima red top battery was also installed.
If you are looking for a very clean and mostly original (other than minor motor mods) this is the car. This is my fathers car and we are looking for a newer car for him and my mom to travel around in so this one is up for sale. Please email with any questions. We have a file folder on the past maintence for the car that goes back a long ways that will go with the car. Very enjoyable car to drive around in and would love for it to go to somebody that will appriciate it.
Asking $4000. Must see and drive to appricaite. Just added pop out rear windows with new seals and Bosch H4 headlight glass.
