'72 Super Beetle

« on: October 04, 2006, 11:15:00 AM »
I am going to take my '72 Super Beetle to Circle 'Yer Wagens this weekend to try and sell.  You can see pictures and video of it HERE.

It has a stock 1600, has hot heat, good body, bit of rust starting on drip rail, and a spot on the passenger door by the outside window scraper.  Pan is perfect, and it runs strong.

$2700.

ohhh, aint it cute. I am scared of supers but they have been fetchin good money around these parts all the same. I think if it looks as good as the pics you could get more than your asking by sitting it on the side of ringold road. Good luck,I think it'll sell fine.

Yup.  Got the Super there at the PTA auction two years ago.  My daughter goes to school there.

The engine was rebuilt about 1300 miles ago by this place downtown...Lockhart's...ever heard of it? Some dude named Rick put his John Hancock on the final rebuild receipt.

I kind'a like Supers myself and I'm kind'a needing another running car . . . but I'm 'bout broke.   :(    Like bugnut said, I don't think you'll have much trouble getting rid of it.  I saw one for sale down here in my area a couple of weeks ago they were asking $6000 for . . . I could see runs in the paint from 10 feet away . . . it sold . . .

Besides a strong cool breeze that would kick up every now and then, the weather was just beautiful.  I found some new camper curtain holders (the white "string" that holds the bottoms of your curtains down, $5 for the pair), some new coat hooks ($3), a new fan belt ($6), an NOS Type IV oil pump ($15...new, $169!), engine compartment seal ($25), good rear side window glass (2 for $5), 8 used but not bent push rod tubes ($5), 2 oil sending units ($3 each), and the most expensive stuff...2 new vent wing latches ($10 each) and a glovebox locking latch ($10).  I think that was all...about $95 spent.  A good time was had by all...the place was packed I think because of the good weather.  I saw several Volks Folks there on Saturday and Sunday.  Also, I saw someone that I hadn't seen in many years...I think since Bugapalüza 3...Alan, from Joppa, AL (I think).  I know most of you remember him.

Yes.  He had all new parts and just a few used parts.  He no longer has all those VWs in the field.  The powers that be made sure of that.

I think you mean BP4.  I am almost positive that is the year his band played.  We weren't members during BP3 so not sure if he played then but he did after  that ( If that is the same Alan I am thinking of).
