Maybe this will inspire Lamar to get to work on our "59" ragtop with semiphores.  :)   We've only had this car a few years....

Now !! if only the rims were painted the right colors.  I know its your Coal Truck and you can do anything you want to with this car.

The whole car is the incorrect color from what I can tell.  I think it is suppose to be Mignonette Green

Thats a good looking color and a one year only color, but now I'm not sure if its that or diamond grey.  I do know that its one or the other based on the interior that I have uncovered.  Its green/grey vinyl and that was only used on those two colors for 59.

The seats have been out of ours so long that I don't have any idea what color they were.  Ours has always been primer grey but under the hood you can see the green.   I think he had plans to paint it back the original color.  Just has a bit of body work to do around the back window and time to work on it.... :)

You know, for the record, Cindy.....
i took my '64 off the road in October of 1998.... it waited 18 months for floorpans ( i mean from when i put in one side to when i put in the other).  it will happen.  I think that your 59 is like my 64.... it will happen, slowly but surely, and the end result will be worth the wait.

So would you say that someone living in Germany at some point had it exported to the US?

The story is that a US GI stationed Germany bought it when he was returning back to Virginia.  I have the Virginia tag registrations and front and back matching tags from 1958.

Sounds like a cool story to me.  Would be even cooler if you could contact this GI.

Someone had already did the research and tracked phone numbers down for the first 3 owners.  Apparently he had passed away and their was a number for another relative.  We are the 6th owner.  3 in Virginia and 3 in Tennessee.

Now you know why the Germans lost the war. They kept lots and lots of excellent and detailed records that the Allies got a hold of to help run down the "Folks" they were looking for. The rest is history
