 I'm starting to feel like a slacker!  :sleepy:  I won't be able to make it.  I'm running low on vacation days and I've got to save a few for the week before Bug-A-Paluza.  I sure wish this thing was on a Saturday . . . I'm looking forward to the club rebuilding a good relationship with VW of Chattanooga. :)

If ANY of you can make it, please go and help man (or woman) the Volks Folks booth!

Lamar and I will try to make it since it's on a Saturday.  We may not be able to be there the whole time but we'll try to make it for some of it.  Let us know what we need to do to help.   :D

Lamar and I were at VW of Chattanooga yesterday morning and it sounded like this event will be part of the Grand Re-Opening for them.  They have a new sign ordered and were waiting for it to come in and be put up before they do their celebration.  They are 100% VW now.  Steve also mentioned to us that they are one of the major sponsors of BP-4

here's the latest from vw of chattanooga re: this event

Dear Perk,
Just wanted to give you a quick low-down on the definite manufacturers and organizations that have committed to our child seat safety campaign on January 12.

We will have Coupons for local retailers for Child seat safety items by Sears and JCPennys. We have had 4 car seats donated compliments of Peg Perego (High end Italian Car seat company), we are waiting for responses from Cosco, Evenflo and Britex about their participation. After contacting NHTSA they referred me to there grant sponsored government division which is called the Tennessee Child Passenger Safety Center a program of the Governors Highway Safety Office. My contact there was a woman named Beth Houser which is a NHTSA certified trainer. Beth is very excited about or event and is helping in making it even more of a success. Beth is organizing two shifts of NHTSA certified child seat safety inspectors to be present to conduct the inspections and to train our public on how to properly buckle-up there loved ones. Coca-Cola has committed to supply refreshments for all our guests and staff during the event. We have commitments from Captain Vaughn of the Chattanooga Police Department Hwy. Safety Division to have representatives there  to inspect child seats and train our guests. We have commitments from Officer Vaughn that the D.A.R.E. team will be present and also an EMT crew will be present. Beth Houser is trying to get a local mobile safety unit to commit to the event and also the Fort Oglethorpe Fire Dept. with the clown brigade. The clown brigade is a Fire Dept crew that dresses like clowns for the kids and bring their Dalmatians in for the children to see, pet and hold. The VolksFolks (VW club of Chattanooga) will be present with some of the classic cars that once drove the vision of Volkswagen. We have much more on the burner and are hoping to get more commitments as early as tomorrow morning. I am compiling a list of supporters, for our advertising agent, for a press release to go out the first week of January. This Press release will go to all local media outlets,  we will use our resources to try to get a few early morning talk show spots for a human interest piece. Also I'm compiling an advertisement pamphlet to be handed out to all daycare's in our area as well as all hospitals. I have an employee whose husband works for the Chattanooga Schools and he will send an email out to the schools about the event. We will also be handing out brochures at local churches and interest groups.

We not only are helping our customers and potential customers to protect there families but we are showing that Volkswagen  still has a strong presence in the community and that we are trendsetters in the automotive experience.

Thank you & I'll be keeping you updated...
Dan Baird

Misty and I can be there for some of it, but I already committed to stop by a "racers' reunion" that day.  A person who is supposed to be there helped assemble Zink Vees and may be able to tell me some history on my car.
