Well, don't they have a plant in Mexico? Maybe we should plan a 5th of May celebration. Works for me.

Hi,
I'm the pony-tailed guy who joined at the meeting a few days ago. My Ghia is not a show car but it looks decent and I'd like to participate in this weekends events if that's cool.

I'm not sure now if I can make it to Friday's event. I may have to work late. Also window seals on the Ghia are in bad shape so I'm avoiding rain as much as possible.

For the thing on Saturday; can I just show up? On which end of Walnut Street bridge are we parking. For some reason I'm picturing the museum side rather than the carousel side. Do I need to have my SCVF decal on my car?

I guess I have the same questions for Sunday at Chattanooga Market.

Thanks,
Dave

If you've never seen Zen's bus Homer, well let's just say it would make your Ghia look like a show car. Definitely bring it if you can, but I do think they are predicting rain for Friday.

You can just show up Saturday too and just the fact that you'll be driving an air-cooled VW means they'll just let you in. Paul told us we will be parked along the north end, whichever end that is I'm not sure though. I won't be there Saturday anyways. Just show up around 10:30 and keep in mind if you park on the bridge, you will be pretty much locked in all day until 7pm. If you want to park where you could get out earlier, there's going to be another section in the park near Greenlife and Mellow Mushroom's tents.

On Sunday you can just show up around 10:30 and find a place to park. I think they will have a spot for us out front. Carter St will be closed so there should be plenty of room, there's also a lot to the side of the Pavilion we should have access to.

Also I was at Village today and Smitty told me 5-8, even tough I had heard 4-8. I'll probably be making it in around 5:30 unless I can leave work early.

Russ!   I can't believe you would say that about Homer!     Yep, it is about time to put another coat of Krylon on Homer Super Bus . . . or at least sand the rust off the roof.  Back in the days when they had voting and trophies for the show at Oktoberfest, Homer won the "Ugliest VW" three years running . . . and that was when the paint was fresh.  Looks aren't everything.  I just took one of the "Ugliest" trophies and stuck it on the roof . . . he's been wearing it with pride for 4 or 5 years now.  I'd hate to have a real "show car."  I'd probably be afraid to drive it.  What's the point of having a car if you can't drive it?

Ummmm . . . y'all don't tell Joy I asked that last question.  She's been asking me the same thing about all my "projects."

The north side of the bridge is the side that connects with Frazier on the Coolidge park side.  Like Russ said, if you want to be on the bridge the car will have to stay from 11am to 7pm.  Otherwise, park in Renissance park on Saturday.

Sunday at the First TN Pavilion, we will be able to group together a little better.  Sounds like we will have a bigger turnout for Sunday as well.

Thank you, me too.  She went nuts last night after the steroids kicked in and she is running around the house on less than 5 hours sleep.  Which of course means that mom has had less. FUN!

I can understand that.  I am the guy that was sitting across from you at the meeting.  Told you not to worry about her running around because I have a one year old and knew all about it.  LOL

Nice to put a face with a name. I have ADD and apparently so does she, it was like watching the squirrel on that movie over the hedge.  You may not have seen that movie yet but give it time.

Honestly, I saw that movie long before I had a child.  LOVE IT!  Just because they are cartoons, do not mean adults can't love them.

Cartoon movies are the best!  I watched them before I had a kid too.  I remember waiting in line to go see Shrek and that was before I was even married.

HAHA...my wife gives me crap because I watch 'Penguins of Madagascar'.  Loved the movie and now the cartoon.  Man I love how we have turned this tread into a cartoon lover's paradise and away from the Octoberfest.  :D
