US 101 Remote Broadcast @ Mapco in Rock Spring, GA

« on: July 20, 2010, 01:40:00 AM »
Every time I pass the Mapco Express in Rock Spring (every day going to work) and I'm wearing tie dyed (at least one or two days a week) I stop in get one of their free "My Mapco" peace stickers.  All the employees are wearing "Summer of 69" tie-dyed t-shirts and there are several posters around that feature pictures of "hippies."

Tonight I was informed by one of the young ladies working there that on Friday, Aug. 6 for 4-6 PM, US 101 - WUSY ( :D that always makes me chuckle for some reason) will be there doing a live remote associated with their current promotion . . . and they would LOVE to have some old VW's show up.  She promised free peace stickers for all VWs.  I'm going to swing by there after work and hang out until it's over, then head to our cruise-in at Sonic.  Anyone else want to join me?

I filled up there Saturday morning when I was heading out to Decatur.  The girls that work there are begging me to get some old VWs to show up.  They gave me a stack of their peace stickers to hand out . . .

Can anyone else make it?

Take US 27 South about 5 miles south of Chickamauga to Rock Spring, GA.  It's on the corner of US-27 and GA-95.

Casey said he would try to make it.  Kyle said he would if he was in town.  Anyone else?

If by the return trip you mean how do you get from Rock Spring to the Sonic, it's easy.  Pull out of the Mapco back on to 27 North go a couple hundred yards and  turn right on to Kay-Conley, go a couple of hundred yards and take the first road to the left and follow it til it ends at Cloud Springs.  Turn right on to Cloud Springs go about a mile and you'll hit the interstate . . . Take I-75 north to East - East Brainard Road and go over the hill and you're there.  Takes about 25 minutes in a bus . . . unless there is trouble on the interstate . . . then it might take hours.

I may be passing by around then. If there's time I'll stop. If not, hope to see everybody at the cruise-in!
