The "Scenic Route" leaves out of Cleveland, TN and goes over to Murphy, NC then turns south towards GA. Taccoa isn't too far from the state line.
The longest, but fastest, way is to take I-75 south to Atlanta, take I-285 west to I-85 north to I-985 north. Up around Gainsville, 985 ends, but the road continues on as a limited access divided 4 lane (can't remember the hwy. #) . . . somewhere up the road Hwy. 17 crosses whatever road you are on . . . take Hwy 17 east. When it turns into a two lane road, your there. It's probably 100 miles longer than the scenic route, but you can make it a couple of hours quicker that way. If your stuck in 4th gear, that's the only way to go. And if you blow your engine 'cause your stuck in 4th crossing the mountain on Hwy.17, don't worry. The last 5 miles is mostly downhill and they have a SUPER swap meet!
