I camped at the first 3 shows.  The first two were held in one part of the park and the other was held on the complete other side of the park.  If you ask me, the location for the first 2 was a better location, but due to no fault of the promoters (the city improved the ball parks and running track), the show was moved to another point in the park.  There is still shade for camping.  I didn't go last year (the 4th Bug Blast) due to other, more personal, important, camping, and family reasons (what happens on the island, stays on the island) but I plan on giving it another try this year.  I am going on Friday to stay the night and vend some wares on Saturday.  I am going to try and get a shady spot...it's hot out there in the sun!

From what I read on their website, the awards presentation is set for 11:00am on Sunday?  Is it worth it to stay through Sunday?  I know that after the show on Saturday, I am headed up to Trenton to go to the Drive-In, but I think that I will go home after that.  I'm not that interested in racing lawnmowers.

Is this the show at Camp Jordan???

No, it is located in Stevenson, AL.  Check out the first post in this thread for the website.

This is turning into a great little show.  The city has already committed to installing more power outlets around the field and along the woods in the camping area.  There were a lot of nats and lots of grand-daddy long legs, but not that many skeeters.  The biggest "problem" was it got pretty hot during the day!

Dr. Fieldinggood kept it lively throughout the day Saturday and was back on stage Sunday morning to get the show wrapped up and announce the mower races . . . but we had to leave before the mower races started.

If you like rail buggies and dune buggies, this is THE event to attend.  I don't think I've seen that may rails in one place in my life!  There were several nice Bugs and a few nice buses on display as well.  There was a pretty good size swap meet to boot.  I set up a small table next to Travis and then didn't man it over 10% of the time . . . and still made enough money to pay for the gas to get there and camping . . . and buy Jesse a bike to ride in the "rail pit" . . . and a couple of cool toys . . . and pay for Joy and Jesse to swim . . .

It's only 40 miles from Chattanooga, it's growing and has LOTS OF ROOM to expand!  It cost $5 per person to get in which included camping, showing, and vending at the VW show and the spectator fee for the lawn mower races ( man, I wish I could have stayed for them! ).  We need to flood the place with Volks Folks next year!

Zen pretty much said it all. I really enjoyed the show. There were a couple of mowers that went through the wall but nobody got hurt. Like zen said we need to flood this place with Volks Folks next year.
