Ringgold Christmas Parade - December Cruise-In

« on: November 20, 2007, 08:17:00 PM »
:reindeer:  :santa:  :reindeer: Bring your family and your VW, some Christmas decorations, a few bags of candy and ride with the Scenic City Volks Folks in the Ringgold Christmas Parade.  We've had a large group in this parade for several years . . . help us make this year the biggest and best decorated group yet!

:santa: The parade is on Friday evening, December 7th.  We start lining up in the Ringgold High School parking lot about 5:00.  The parade doesn't start until 6:00, but the parking lot fills up fast.  If you get there too late, you might not be able to get over to where our group is parked.

:reindeer: This is the first Friday of the month, so it's also Cruise-In night!  After the parade, we are going over to Portafino's . . . I can get there, but I better let someone who knows road names and what's around it give you directions.  Brian?     Even if you can't make if for the parade, please come hang out with us afterwards!   8)

Here are directions to Portofino's.  Heading south on I-75 take exit 348, Turn left onto Hwy 151 (aka alabama hwy).  Turn left at the second light onto Reeds Bridge Rd (at Walter Jackson Chevrolet).  Then turn left onto Remco Lane (behind Taco Bell).  You will pass the Cracker Barrell and Portofino will be in the shopping strip to the left.

Here are directions to Ringgold High School to line up for the parade.  As above take exit 348 then turn left onto Hwy 151.  At the end of 151(or the 4th red light) take a right onto Hwy 41(Nashville st).  At the next red light take a left onto Sparks St.  The High school will be on the right.  Look for detour signs pointing you in the direction of the lineup.

Change in Line-Up at Parade

« Reply #4 on: December 06, 2007, 09:46:10 AM »
:reindeer:  :santa: I just spoke with Dr. Graham's office (he's in charge of the parade), there has been a change in the line-up as they have the parking lot at the high school fenced off for construction.  According to his office, multiple car groups are to go down Nashville St. to Tennessee St. (last red light before the depot), turn left, then left again on High St. for line-up.  They said there are going to be about 20 people down there to help direct cars, etc.  Single cars and other will be lining up on Giler & Tiger St., these are the streets surrounding the high school, don't go there!  Sounds like it could get a little confusing and slightly screwed up.  I'm planning to get down there around 4:00-4:30.  I have attached a map, I hope it worked!  Look forward to seeing everyone!! :reindeer: :santa:

I spoke with Portofino's and told them that we would be showing up after the parade.  I gave them a rough estimate of 20 people.  Hope to see everyone tomorrow night!

Revised Line-up

:!:  :reindeer: :santa: OK, just got word that Dr. Graham would like for us to meet at Ingles (or somewhere nearby), come over together as a group and enter the line-up via Nashville & Guyler St.  The only problem I see about that is the traffic on Nashville St. coming from Ingles.  I have attached yet another map. Can anyone think of a place to meet as a group that is closer to Nashville & Guyler?  See, I told you it was going to get screwed up! HA!! :reindeer:  :santa:

I'm planning on getting there around 4:00 to 4:30.  Do you think that is the best place to meet?

I'm fine with it, unless you think we should meet at Northwest Georgia Bank since it is on the right side of the road and we wouldnt have to worry about crossing over the street. Doesn't matter to me.  :)

Ingles will be the best place for us to meet up.  There probably won't be any other empty parking lots at that time.  We will meet there then head over together no later than 5:15.

Sounds good, I'll let Dr. Graham know that's where we will be coming from.  I'll try to get there by 4:00, it shouldn't be a problem and scope us out a spot.  Everyone can look for Petunia!  Look forward to seeing you all there!!  :santa:  :reindeer:  :reindeer:  :reindeer:

Thanks to everyone who showed up for this event!  I think we had a dozen VWs in the parade this year.  As always, they were a big hit with the crowd.  A few folks who couldn't make it in time for the parade showed up at Portafino's for the cruise-in, making this one of our biggest cold weather cruise-ins ever!

I didn't have a camera  :(  . . . if anyone snapped some pictures, please share them!

Sorry I couldn't hang around longer at Portafino's, but I had to get an EARLY start this morining . . . I'm about to head to Murfreesboro for a weekend fun and adventure trying to prop my brother's house back up.
