In thinking about the upcoming show season and my limited funds, limited vacation time and questionable vehicle reliability, I wondered what would be the best "Not To Miss" Volkswagen show. Bug-A-Palüza is obviously number one but I want to know what show out of our area is the best. If you've been to a show in the past, then please help out and vote for your number one.

That's tough Bugz . . . You only gave us one vote!  I voted for Circle Yer Wagens . . . it's less than 3 hours away . . . big swap meet, lots of nice cars, camping on the riverbank . . . and it's a two day show.  If you have time, you can make a whole weekend of it.  If you only have a Saturday or Sunday free, even if you have something to do that night, you can still run up to Sevierville and pick up some parts you need and get back home.  It has it's down sides too . . . mainly, it's one of the more expensive shows.

But my one vote for Circle Yer Wagens isn't fair to some other shows that are also on my "DON'T MISS AT ANY COST LIST" . . . Heart of Dixie; Bugs in July (Huntsville); Birmingham Bug Blast (this is the only show besides Bug-A-Paluza that I've never missed . . . I attended the first one, and I've been to all of them since); Southeastern Bug Fair (Taccoa); Octoberfest at the Chattanooga Market; Bulli Brigade and Pasco Bug Jam.

Events I haven't been to regularly (or at all) in the past, but WILL IF AT ALL POSSIBLE include:  BK Cruiser's Dino Day; Middle Georgia Show (I can't remember off hand exactly where this was . . . last year was the first year.  I planned to go but had to pull the engine out of Homer that day to torque down a loose head); Emerald Coast; VW's by the Beach (Jacksonville, Florida) (attended in '99 and loved it); St. Augustine show (attended last year and had a great time.  It was the weekend after Pasco Bug Jam and we had stayed in FL to visit relatives in Jacksonville); VWs over Memphis; Mid-America Fun Fest (We are planning on going this year); and the Southern Volks Fest.  In ADDITION to these . . . if there is any other show within 250 miles and there is any way possible, I would like to attend it as well.  For shows over 250 miles away . . . I'd like to attend more of them, but one or two a year about my limit.  I'm not really "into" racing, but I'd like to attend at least one VW drag race sometime soon.  In addition to these events, there are a lot of bus campouts I'd love to attend . . . High Country; Buses on the River; Dead of Winter; Hangin Dawg . . . there's too many of them to list.

If time and money would alow, I'd be a VW event every weekend!

I had a bigger list to begin with that included all those events, but the system evidently has a limitation and I had to keep deleting events to post the poll.

I voted for the Bug Fest simply because those of us who went last year had such a great time but I agree with Zen about the choices. We WON'T miss Pasco Bug Jam and we won't miss Circle Yer Wagons but what makes the Mid America show stand out is that it's FREE and you get so much FREE stuff. It's a leisurely trip and a relaxing weekend.

I would like to try and go to the show this year in Arkansas this year but gas prices are going to be a factor. We'll just have to wait and see what develops.
