Podrod's Volkamotion GTG

« on: October 06, 2004, 02:01:23 AM »
So you missed Fish 'n Pods and you didn't make VWs Rock.  Well it is time to make up for it at Volkamotion!  Volkamotion is Podrods third annual southeast GTG.  This year we will be visting the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.  Keep in mind this in no ordinary museum.  This place has huge, powerful, and beautiful trains.  Everything from old steam engines to the modern diesel rigs.  They also have a full yard of passenger cars to tour.

But wait, there is more!  There will also be a ride on a steam locomotive.  This will be a 6 mile trip that takes you along original right-of-way railroads used to arrive at Chattanooga and you will also get to experience one of Tennessee's oldest railroad tunnels.  Food and fun is always present at a Podrods event, so if you are up for more, we can also visit Ruby Falls.  This is a thundering 145 foot waterfall inside historic Lookout Mountain.

We will meet in Coolidge Park, Downtown Chattanooga at 11:00.  This will give us time to all meet up and prepare for lunch.

Directions to Coolidge Park:

Directions from I-75:

1. Take the I-24 West exit towards Chattanooga/Nashville (exit #2)
2. Merge on I-24 West
3. Take US-27 North/Market St exit towards Chattanooga/Downtown (exit #178)
4. Merge on 1-124 North
5. Take the 4th Street/Downtown (TN-58 N) exit (exit #1C)
6. Turn Right on W 4th St
7. Turn Left on Broad St (Front of Aquarium)
8. Turn Right on 2nd St.
9. Turn Left on N Market St (Cross River)
10.Turn Right on Frasier St (First Right after Bridge)
11. Turn Right into Coolidge Park

I think Ruby Falls is doing the "Haunted Cave".  Should be cool!

Hey, Jai.  What's a "G-60 cab"?

Hehe.  I have had the 68 since I was 15 years old.  I started the restoration a long time ago, but other projects kept putting it on the back burner.  I installed new pans, shocks, brakes, and things related to the frame.  Then I bought the New Beetle and stoped working on it.  I was just about to continue the restoration when I bought the DeLorean....  So it will probably be a while before I bring it to a meeting. ;)  As far as a G60 Cab goes, my guess would be a early model Cabby with a G60 engine....
