National Cornbread Festival - Saturday Afternoon Cruise

« on: April 24, 2002, 11:23:17 AM »
Is anyone interested in cruising down to South Pittsburg this Saturday afternoon about 4-5 pm to check out the National Cornbread Festival?  I heard them mention a car cruise-in for Saturday evening and thought I'd try to find out more about it if there is any interest.  I know we need to try to catch up on house/yard work this weekend but we'll be ready for a break that evening.  Let us know if anyone is interested...

I'm going to be putting in a floor pan Saturday.  If I get through in time, that sounds like something fun to do . . . and we could all use something fun right now!

I found the website and they do have a cruise-in scheduled for Saturday evening from 6:30-9:30 pm (cst) at the Dixie Freeze.  If anyone is interested in checking out what's going on there the website is www.cornbreadfestival.com.

I'm afraid I have a Symphony thing Saturday (since when does Hal Linden sing?) Otherwise I'd love to.  I made the winning recipe after it was in the paper after the last festival, and it was fantastic!  It used shrimp, among many other ingredients.  It was like a meal in itself.

How about meeting at the Cone station at the Wildwood exit at 5:00 PM?  That would give us 30 minutes for me to get there late and an hour to get to South Pittsburg.

Sounds like a plan to me! Listening to the weather dudes this morning they are calling for a 50% chance of rain both Saturday and Sunday. Lets see what they have to say about rain tomorrow morning and decide from there. Check back here tomorrow and we will decide for sure then.

Well, according to Mr. Bill of channel 9, the rain is called off until late Saturday night. Are we meeting at the Cone station in Wildwood at 5pm then? Let us know!

Lamar and I went on down to the  Cornbread Festival yesterday afternoon and it was really neat.  We cruised thru the Dixie Freeze and met up with a guy with a 64 Ghia for sale.  He's going back to college in the fall and needs the money.  It's a 2nd owner car with 82k miles on it for $3500.00.  If anyone is interested call Andy Essex at (256)996-1517 or (256)845-7488.  He is planning to take it to Circle Your Wagons next weekend.   :colgate:
