I have not contacted anyone at the park as of yet.

Well, it looks like the Barefoot tribe will not be able to attend this shindig after all.  This will be the second year in a row of no attendance from us.  Do we lose our gold attendance star?  Or worse yet, CAP member status?  :mecry:

Y'all have fun now, ya hear?

I just called Monte Sano State Park and they do recommend reservations.  The price for sites with full hook-ups is $16, just water/electricity is $15, and primitive is $10 per night.  For reservations, call 1-800-ALA-PARK...but the office won't be open until Monday, July 8.

The voice on the other end of the phone said that they are busy this time of year.  I told her that we were bringing a group down and to get ready!

Do they assign you a campsite when you make reservations or do you do that when you get there?  If you get the site when you make reservations, do we want to make them at the same time for all those going to this show who are planning to camp so that we get together at the campground?  Just wondering... :questions:

I don't know.  Since it was the 4th of July when I called, the main office was closed and I had to talk to someone in the Park Store.  She gave me the 1-800 number to call and said to call Monday because they were closed until then.

But getting campsites together would be great.

I guess we'll see on Monday... :thumbs-up:

A head count would be good, but I am on the phone with reservations right now.  I found out that only one camping vehicle is allowed per site, with a maximum of two adults per site for the regular rate, $2 per person for more than 2 adults.  She also is telling me to call the Park directly and they will save at least 10 sites for us.

I am calling them right now.  If you want to be sure to have a site reserved, call them as well and let them know that you are with the VW group.  Call the camp store directly (256) 534-6589.  I do know that they will try to get us as close together as possible.

---UPDATE---

I have reserved 6-10 sites for us and they are supposed to be consecutive sites, or at least close together.
When you make your reservation, ask for the Scenic City Volks Folks reservation.  If you just show up without calling them, do the same.  The Park Office closes at 4:50 PM Central Time.  Essentially, everything is taken care of for up to 10 sites.  Now I suppose a head count would be really good now.

If there is anyone who is not going to stay overnight and camp, Dee and I will be driving down early Saturday morning (7am at Bi Lo?) and coming back Saturday night. I plan right now on driving Lucille (split window) to the show but we will not be able to stay overnight.  Let mne know if you want to caravan down with us.

We're planning to go.  We need to leave after work on Friday afternoon because we are planning to take off the next Friday to go to High Country.  I called to the camp office and they said they already had the sites held under your name Travis and wouldn't take our name for one of the them.  Save us one, please... I guess we can make plans for leaving at the meeting on Monday night :questions:  :thumbs-up:
