Labor Day Car Show - Lafayette, GA

« on: August 05, 2004, 08:56:04 AM »
We can't forget the Labor Day Car Show in Lafayette, GA on the 6th of September. The Scenic City Volks Folks have committed to handling the registrations and the judging. Several VW classes have been added to this ALL car show. The show benefits underprivledged children at Christmas time.

Bump!!

I want to bring this back up to the top and urge ALL club members to be present for this car show. The registration and judging are our responsibility. We need to be present at the Walker County Civic Center by 7am.

I will find our about the camping today.

Do we need to recruit outside help for the judging . . . I know of a couple of folks I might be able to talk into helping out.

Zen and I attended a meeting at the Walker County Civic Center last night involving the planning for the Labor Day car show. We need a couple of Folks to go down Sunday afternoon and help us lay out the car areas for the show car parking. We discussed it at length last night and we think it will be better in this situation to group the show cars that will be coming. We need to drive some stakes in the ground around the property to mark the particular areas.

I will be pulling the club trailer down so we will have tables and two easy ups.

Please jump on here and give me an idea how many Folks will commit to coming. So far, only a very few have signed on and we need a lot more.

if at all possible I plan to come help on Monday. I would like to come down Sunday too but I won't know what Jeani has planned until the weekend gets closer.

No show for show

Although this might not be the best thing to say at this moment...I'll go ahead and say it.

I don't think I will be able to attend either the planning on Sunday or the car show on Monday.  Linda had surgery today...what surgery?...I'll let you ask her.  Needless to say, she won't be able to handle the kids by herself for at least a week.

Sorry. :(

Rain?

« Reply #11 on: September 03, 2004, 09:09:52 AM »
Hate to bring this up but is this a rain or shine show?
30% chance of thunderstorms on Monday and with Frances heading this way that could increase. Just wondering.

Everybody else might be afraid of a little rain, but use VW folks aren't!  It's on rain or shine.  When the bugs start float'n across the parking lot, we'll call it off and go swimming!

A 30% chance that it will rain means a 70% chance that it won't.  Actually, on any given day at any given time it could rain . . . or not.  So there is always a 50-50 chance it'll rain and a 50-50 chance it won't.  Even with a 50% chance it doesn't rain more days than it does rain.  And on most days it does rain, it doesn't rain all day, on most days the sun shines, it shines all day long.  And that's on an average day that has a 50% chance of rain . . . at only 30%, we've got good weather in the bag.  As a statistical engineer at work once told me, "torture the data long enough and it will tell you what you want to hear!"
