It's never too early to put something on your calendar for next year.

It was 69 years ago on this date that the agreement was signed that put the Volkswagen into production.

Charlton,

How many of these "this day in VW history" things do you know? If we could get some for every day of the year, that could be a neat feature for our website I think.

I don't have near enough. The calendar I did to have printed up doesn't have every day filled but there are quite a few. Unfortunately I have not been able to come up with a way to pay to have the calendar printed so it is still on the shelf. If I can't get any backing for it this year at least I'll have the shell already done for next year (2006). I'd be glad to pass on the info I have so far but you'll need a good bit more to put with it in order to have something for every day of the year. (Which was my original goal by the way.)

Well, I could take what you do have already and put it into a script for the front page. Then every time someone visits the script would evaluate the date and print whatever happened that day, if anything.

Sounds like a great thing to keep the content fresh on the front page, and hopefully keep visitors coming back in the future.

I could also have a form to submit new events, and would encourage anyone who reads an interesting fact to pass it along to us. I bet Zen would have quite a few to send in...

Then, if we get enough to fill an entire calendar, you could take it all and put it into a calendar form, and we could possibly sell it on the site or something.

Sound good?

See Herb, This is what I meant when I said :  "Priming The Pump". I just love it when someone starts something you know is going to create some kind of input, hostle , friendly, threats, etc.  It just goes to show you how  VW folks will defend their faithful steeds to the death. It also show that a lot people really do pay attention to whats written . I will say this, When you have worked on them as long as I did and when you showed up for work on Monday morning staring at maybe 5-6 Beetles and then 15 vans with blown engines, transmission, fires, electrical problems etc.etc. It makes for a Rolaid Day. Other than that,They are great . Did I mention that I owned 2 vans? A `64-`69. I wish that I had the `64 back. Its name was "ol Bio-degradable" . The things this van pulled on me would make Homer look like a amature. ](*,)

Bugz,

I hope you don't mind but I edited your original message/title so the post would show up better on the events page. The bbcode to set the color and font-weight didn't translate for some reason. I'm including your original post below just for completeness.

Godfather..............I don't know about everyone else but I would like to hear some of the stories about "'ol Bio-degradeable". The name alone, I'm sure has a story.
