The High Country Bus Festival will be held July 30 - August 1, 2004.  The majority of buses will be camping in a field, surrounded by other campsites (I believe its $5 per person/night) or you can reserve a campsite through the Grandfather Mountain Campground telephone: (828) 963-PARK (7275) or 1-800-788-CLUB (2582).  If you are planning on camping in the field, there is no need to call the campground.

I can't get Monday off, I have some things I need to get done over the weekend, and since he really struggles on even small up-hills, I really don't think Homer is up to a trip through the mountains.  So, I think I'm going to bail out on this one again this year. :( Maybe by next year I'll have a "mountain motor" in Homer.

That leave the choices for the weekend Myrtle Beach, Rockingham, and Montgomery.  Myrtle Beach doesn't have a swap meet, so it's out for me.  Rockingham is on Sunday, it's over 400 miles away, and I've got to be at work early Monday morning.  It looks like I'll either be staying home all weekend or going to Montgomery on Saturday.

Well, we made it there and back again.  Lamar and I left Thursday morning headed to Ashville/Biltmore House and on up to Grandfather Mountain/High Country Bus Festival on Friday.  We visited the Folk Art Museum at the entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the shops at Little Switzerland on the way.  We drove most of the Blue Ridge Parkway in the mist, rain, and fog.  Made for an interesting ride.  Anyway, the bus festival was fun...173 buses this year.  Weather was pretty good, a bit of rain on Friday, nice Saturday and today.  We came home via the interstate in about 5 1/2 hours with a couple of stops.  The Barefoots, Moose and family and Elmer Earls came back the Parkway.  Had a great time!!!  Lots of neat buses old and new... :D
