Herbie Movie at Coolidge Park

« on: May 19, 2004, 10:51:39 AM »
I just looked up the schedule for free outdoor movies at Coolidge Park this summer and they are showing a Herbie movie on Saturday night, 7/10/04.  It's totally free....maybe this is something we could do together as a club.

Here's the link to the schedule:

That sounds like something we should definitely put on our calendar.  This would be a great place to promote the club.

You know, the kids would poop their Pampers if Herbie showed up at the Herbie movie!

Just to update...I just spoke with Cynthia Blackwell at First Things First who is sponsoring the movies and she will have to get with the people at Coolidge Park for an ok.  She said they are very particular about vehicles on the grass, etc and they had such a huge response to the movie this past weekend they would need to work out parking, etc.  She was very hopeful that it could be worked out and will get back with me.  I just wanted to check to make certain that Fielding will be able to have his car there and hope that Jai can bring his New Beetle too.   Let me know and I'll let you know what I find out.   :)

I spoke with the girl from First Things First and they have worked out the parking situation and hope that the 2 Herbies will be able to be there.  They want to park the 2 Herbies (hopefully Jai will be able to make it too) in the front at the screen along the sidewalk.  The other VW's will need to park in a reserved area for us at the Theater Center Parking Lot or you can park at your own risk under the Market St. Bridge (pieces of the bridge are falling off of it so you could have damage to your car).  The movie starts at 9:00 (dusk) and people start gathering at 6:00.  Maybe we could meet at 6:00 at the old Sam's Club parking lot and cruise down together.  Pack up your blankets, chairs, picnic dinner or snacks and have an enjoyable evening under the stars (hopefully the rain will leave us alone).  I need to call her back by Friday, July 9 with the number of parking spaces that need to be reserved so let us know if you are planning to go. :D

I just wanted to bump this back to the top.  I have to call tomorrow to let them know how many parking spaces to reserve for us.  Hope we have a good turn out for it.  Sounds like it will be fun!!! :)

I talked with the girl this afternoon and they are going to try their best to save us some parking at the theater center.  She is having trouble getting in touch with someone there who can do it.  The Herbie bugs will park up front with the movie screen.  We'll see those planning to go tomorrow night at the old Sam's parking lot on Lee Hwy at 6:00 pm.
