Hanging Dawg campout

I talked with George Rymer last week and he said that Hanging Dawg will be held September 16-18, 2005.  It will be held at the Hanging Dog campground near Murphy, NC.  For more information, call George at 423-476-6964.

Ok.
This is straight from the horse's mouth.
NO Hanging Dawg campout this year.  NO rescheduling.
Some VW folks went up to the campground to "reserve" themselves a spot, and there was a posted sign stating that the campground was closing for the season on September 15.
They just keep closing earlier and earlier.  I wonder why? :?:  :?:  :?:

That's unfortunate. I went ahead and took the event off our calendar.

Hmmm, I have not been to "Hanging Dawg" ,but im like you Travis, I wonder why they chose a Thursday to close down and not after a weekend like most Tn. parks or other camping spots do. Was this Dude(Rymer) VW friendly ? :-k

Oh yeah.  Last year was the "9th edition" of the campout.  Usually, the whole campgound would be taken up by VW folks.  I don't know why they are closing so early.  Under new management?  Who knows...

Is Hangin Dawg a state park or national park? I'm thinking it is part of the national park system.
