We all made it back in one piece from Saturday's race. Jai and Eric showed up to help (thanks for the push, guys!). Practice and qualifying sessions went smoothly. On lap 9 of the race, the brakes faded at the end of the backstretch, and I discovered turn 9A can be optional when you can't slow down from around 100MPH! I managed to keep it straight in the grass and re-enter after 9A. Back around the frontstretch, I braked for turn one and the pedal went to the floor. I had to scrub off speed, keep it on the track, AND dodge another Vee that spun and stalled on the track. This was the same car that tried a pass and spun in front of me earlier in the race. Well, after that drama, I puttered back to the pits, hit the kill switch while in gear so the thing would stop, and called it a day. I got my novice book signed off, anyway, and didn't come home on a tow hook, so it could have been worse! Thanks Misty, Eric and Jai, and everyone who wished me well! I hope to publish my report on the "pucker factor" and it's relation to downforce in the next SCCA newsletter. :p
