After last night, I don't think there is a lot left of Pensacola Beach. It was washed and blown inland several miles.

It's a good thing that Birmingham moved their show up to August because I believe that this would have been the weekend for it.   :)

I think in the past there was an opened weekend between the Southeastern Bug Fair (Taccoa) and the Birmingham Bug Blast . . . so Birmingham would have been next weekend (I think).

BUT . . . there's another tropical storm that could strengthen into a hurricane sitting over Jamacia and probably headed up through Florida.  It'll probably be up here next weekend.   ](*,)

Hopefully the hurricane season will be wound down before the Pasco Bug Jam . . .  [-o<

Hi Gang,
Just a brief statement. Thanks to God for allowing so many of us to survive this storm with our lives. It was not a very restful night last Weds. Spent the night riding out the biggest Hurricane I've had to deal with. Lots of massive destruction. No reports of VW damage. Just got power on a few miutes ago. Due too overwhelming damage our 8th annual VW Show has been cancelled this year. Wish us luck as we tough out some hard times. I really know what the Charlie and Frances survivors went through! Take care and see you soon.

If I'm not sadly mistaken, Wild Bill is the guy we met at last years Florida Bug Jam. Isn't he a big tall fellow and didn't he and his wife stay in the same motel that we did?

Wild Bill and Linda Tucker are the couple who got married at Florida Bug Jam in 2002.  I didn't see him at either event this year, but he is usually at Birmingham and Taccoa.  I'm sure he'll be a Florida . . . I mean Pasco Bug Jam.

I've only talked to him a few times (after all, our paths only cross at three shows a year) but he seems to be a true VW enthusiast.  Justin attended some of their club meetings when he was stationed in Pensacola for electronics school.  They are a very active, hands on group.  The do lot's of tech sessions.  The first time I talked to Wild Bill, he said that when they get a new member that is an air-cooled "newbie" the first thing they do is give them a list of basic hand tools they MUST buy . . . then schedule time with members to show them how to take care of their new ride.  Justin's 74 Super Beetle was running like crap on the trip back to Pensacola after a weekend trip home . . . he went to one of their get togethers and the got it straightened out for him.
