:D It is one of the better shows in the area. The only thing that I dislike is all the traffic through the town towards Piegon Forge & Gatlinburg. It is sometimes a big pain in the posterior. That being said, the shows that I have attended have always been fun times... I personally prefer this one over Bug Jam....

For the first time since 1996 (the first year I started attending VW shows) I missed both of the Circle Yer Wagens.  The fall show was supposed to be the last show at the fairgrounds, but they recently announced that the construction that was going to consume the fairgrounds has been delayed and the shows this year will still be in the same location as before.  Hopefully I'll be able to attend them this year.

On the show itself:

In my opinion the pros are lots of nice cars, lots and lots of vendors, camping on the riverbank, a general laid-back atmosphere where you can just kick back and enjoy being a part of the VW scene regardless of where you fit into it.  Keep in mind that I've always attended as a spectator, never to show or vend.  Another plus is a nice relaxing drive to the show IF you take the back roads . . . well, MOST of the way it's a nice relaxing drive . . . traffic is a nightmare as you get close to the showgrounds.

The cons -- The cost.  I'm sure the fees are governed by the fact that the fairgounds are in Sevierville and probably pretty expensive to rent.  I'm not sure what their fees are currently, but it's always been one of the more expensive shows as far as spectator and vending fees (not sure about show car fees) and the price of food at the show reflects the higher vending fees . . . which isn't really a problem since there are thousands of places to eat in Seveirville and Pigion Forge . . . but then you gott'a fight the traffic.   :?  Another "con" is Circle Yer Wagens seems to have way more than its share of bad weather.  Take a canopy or a big umbrella!

I don't have any experiance with the judging so I can't really give an opinion.  I've heard some complaints about it, but I've also heard lots of positive comments about it.  I can tell you from experiance that no two shows judge the same and, especially with VW shows where you almost always have vollunteer judges, it all boils down to someones opinion.  No matter what you do, you will never please everyone.  99.9% of the complaints about any show will usually be about judging.  90% of the time the complaints are because the owner's opinion differed from the judge's . . . those things are going to happen and there isn't a whole lot you can do to stop it.  The other 10% are the ones you have to work on . . . cars in the wrong class, etc.  Those can be fixed, but we are all human . . . we all make mistakes occasionally.

i will have to agree with what everybody has said it seems to be a good show at a whole . i have attended alot of the shows up there as a spectater . i have a car that im gonna show , and will probly take it there .haveing said that i will have something to put around my car just because the only thing i dont like about the show is it seems like they let alot of little kids run wild on bike's, skateboards ,etc. inside and around the cars . and i like the family stuff but dont think its the place for that . so if you have a real nice car you might be prepared for that . but the people up there seem real nice and freindly . i did try to e-mail them on the subject and concerns that they might be turning away people with nicer cars that dont want to take a chance of a kid plowing into there car, but they never did respond back .  :? i hope i didnt make them mad i was just trying to help. somtimes its hard to see something right in front of you when there is alot going on. but i tried. i know my car is nice but not as nice as some i have seen. and it makes me nevrious to have kids clowning around my car after all the time and money i put in to it.i look foward to the bug-a- paluza!  \:D/  wooooohooooo!

It's a great scene overall. It's best enjoyed by first arriving through Maryville, to Seymour, then up Chapman Hwy. No traffic. Don't take the interstate through Knoxville to hwy 66. The only VWs you'll see are the ones leaving Sunday as you continue to sit in traffic on the way in. Now that you're there, camp in your bus or tent (I camped in a Ghia Cabrio one time), bring some food, and eat the pancake breakfast. The Boy Scouts use this for a fundraiser.

The kids mostly keep to the circle of pavement, so its not too much of a problem. I would also just as soon tell people, or at least kids, to leave their wheels on the street or at home.

There hasn't been a show since Bug-In 1 where someone hasn't complained about judging. Don't put too much credit into any of it. I can only speak from my personal experience. I don't know any of the AVWA folks, but my camper got 1st in class the first time I showed it, last fall(see this month's Hot VWs).

I've made probably 6 or 8 CYWs and think its one of the nicest around. I ditto the other's comments, as well. It's worth going.

Hey everybody!  We are at a motel in Tifton, GA on our way back up from sunny Florida.
I'll give you my unbiased opinion about the show.  IT ROCKS!  I haven't missed one since '98.  My first show was this one.  I didn't have any friends there, I didn't have a clue as to who the judge was, and my original Westy with original rust won 1st place in it's class!  I don't show anymore, but my whole purpose of going there is to relax and shop for parts.  There are show cars there?
Camp if you can or want to.  I want to and can.
I love it!

I ran down on the last day and snagged some hard to find parts for a 67 bug. Everything was pretty much as described as far as being chilled out.
No arrogant jerks spoiling the fun. I few misguided folks but no problems. By misguided I mean driving into the water.lol.

Circle Yer Wagons was the first VW show I ever went to. Me and my brother cruised up there at about 65mph in my '78 Camper and stayed up there the whole weekend. One of my favorite road trips (every one in the VW is anyway!).

I haven't been able to make it back up there since, but I think about it all the time!
