Chattanooga FC game this weekend

« on: July 21, 2014, 10:34:35 PM »
The Chattanooga Football Club is hosting the national semifinal match this weekend at Finley Stadium, and they would like as many Volkswagens as possible to come out to the game. We are awaiting details but in the meantime we took a count at the meeting and had about 4-5 people interested in going. Tickets are $10 each, the game is on Saturday, July 26th at 7:30 PM however we are told they have a pretty big tailgating party starting around 2 or 3.

More info will be posted as we get it.

We are hooligans in my family,  the tail gating is pretty awesome.  I guess I'll have to drag a air Cooled down there

Ok, I've tried to communicate the expectations for Saturday. Apparently there are none. They just want more people to show up and don't seem to have intensions of having our cars on display. I don't think it will matter if we drive our cars. I have asked what time to show up, will we have an area to display our vehicles, what do we need to do about tickets, etc... I received a copied email response both times that seemed more like a press release.

At this point, I have no info about how our car club will interact with the CFC other than being spectators. I'm not sure why they reached out.

Yeah, don't worry about it too much. My friend Don has been trying to help them promote because they can't seem to get much more than 3,000 people out each game. He thought getting us out there would be a draw, but apparently the club isn't too motivated to actually make it happen. Perhaps in the future we could organize with them and get a specific area for our cars, as well as details on when to show up, etc. I still think it's a good idea if we can convince them to help plan for us.

We'll probably pass on it then.
They have been getting some talk on the radio this week, I've noticed, so maybe the crowd will be up. Not "Vintage Volkswagens On Display" up, however. ;D
