Bug-A-Paluza X

« on: November 18, 2007, 08:23:14 PM »
Bug-A-Paluza X will be held the weekend of April 18-20, 2008.

We are still in the planning stage.  More info will be posted soon.

There may be a few adjustments, but the classes will be about the same as last year.  Day of show registration opens at 8:00AM Saturday and Sunday and closes at 4:00 PM Saturday and 11:00 AM on Sunday.  Although we would like to see everyone there for the entire weekend, you don't have to be present both days to show as we will be judging both days.

Registration fee - Show or Vendor Spot fee will remain at $15 pre-registered, $20 day of show.  Pre-registration by mail will probably open in February and close in early April.  Camping at the show grounds is $5 per person for the weekend (this includes Friday and Saturday nights . . . and Sunday night if needed).

Spectator gate will be $2 per person, children 12 and under free.  We are also asking for Dental supplies (tooth brushes, toothpaste, etc) to be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.

The show will once again be at Camp Jordan Park in East Ridge, TN (Chattanooga).  Camp Jordan's entrance is located on US Hwy 41 (Ringgold Road) just off I-75 TN Exit 1 (just north of the GA/TN state line and just south of I-75/I-24 split).

Consessions and gate proceeds go directly to Chattanooga's Ronald McDonald House Charities.  Bug-A-Palzua 9 raised about $9000 . . . we want to top $10,000 this year!

There is always plenty of camping space now that we have moved the show out into the parking lot.  Camping is first come.  Based on the camping crowd last year we may have to divide the field into a quite side and a party side.

Since nothing goes better on a spring day than an RC /moon pie while working on your favorite VW :P ...what about a tour of the Chatanooga home of the Moon Pie on Saturday during the show?  maybe they could reciprocate by sponsoring wiht some prizes from their store?

They are at:
Chattanooga Bakery
423.267.3351

Hoping to get out of Florida and to your show!

Due to hotel room availability we are offering 2 host hotels this year.

If you plan to start your stay Friday there are a limited number of rooms available for $79.95 at the Holiday Inn Express. You can call (423) 308-0111 and mention Bug-a-Paluza.

If you plan to only stay Saturday and maybe Sunday then there are a limited number of rooms available for $65.99 at the Comfort Inn and Suites. You can call (423) 893-7979 and mention Bug-a-Paluza.

You must call before March 19th to take advantage of this offer.

Sorry, but the Comfort Inn and Suites is only available for the rate of $65.99 for Saturday and Sunday night due to it being occupied by another group on Friday night

Called the # to get a room at the Comfort Inn. $68.88 per night, not $65.99

Pre-registration is not set up yet?

Hey Joe,
I called the hotel to see what happened.  Here is the problem and the reason we are offering 2 hotels.  We could not set up a block of rooms at the Comfort Inn for Friday and Sat due to a Shriner Convention on Friday Night.  They only had about 6 rooms left for Friday night and she had to keep them open for a buffer.  So what we did was set up a block at the Holiday Inn Express for participants that were coming in on Friday.  Then we also created a block at the Comfort Inn and Suites for those who only stay for Sat. night and still be able to take advantage of the cheaper rate.

From what she told me, You are coming in on Friday at the Comfort Inn therefore we didn't have any blocked for that night.  You actually got lucky and absorbed 2 of the 6 buffer rooms.  She said she tried to give you the best rate she could.

I thought I worded the post so that it wouldn't be confusing, but I can see that we are probably going to have fun with this one.

By the way Joe, Watch out for the Shriners they are known to run people down with their dunebuggys here in Chattanooga.

Doing my best to rally up the watercoolers  8)   I've made every show for 9 years, missed #1.  Really, really looking forward to #10.  It's absolutely amazing how this show has progressed, and hats off to you guys for making it the best air and water show in the SE!
