Bug-a-Paluza 15

« on: December 10, 2012, 08:27:51 AM »

Held at Camp Jordan in East Ridge, TN

* 50 Show Car classes (air-cooled and water-cooled)
* Custom Hand-crafted Trophies
* Camping
* Swap Meet
* Dash plaques and goody bags for show car registrants (while supplies last)
* Tech Sessions
* Games, Prizes, Kids Activites, Giveaways
* Master Pin Striper Von Hot Rod

And much more that has yet to be announced!

Online registration is available at http://www.bugapaluza.com/

In order to accomodate more vendors, we've made some changes to our show layout. Vendor spaces are now 10'x20' for $11 each. This means if you're a small vendor who only needs room for a few parts or a small easy-up, you don't need to get a larger 20'x25' space for $16. If you're a larger vendor who needs more space, you can still get multiple consecutive spaces for $11 each. We hope this will help fit in more vendors as we typically sell out of spots early each year!

* Due to the possibility of camping field being closed due to rain, we will have no pre-registration for camping this time.  If available, camping in the field will be on a first come, first serve basis.
* Camping in the field is limited to tent and VW campers only.  Depending on the condition of the field and the weather forecast for the weekend, small, light weight vintage and pop-up campers may also be allowed in the field (This is at Volks Folks and Camp Jordan officials' discretion).
* The camping field will open at Noon on Friday.  The gate will be closed from 11 PM Friday until 6 AM Saturday and 11 PM Saturday until 6 AM Sunday.  Vehicles will only be allowed in and out of the field in emergencies during these times.  Vehicle trailers must be stored in the lot next to the camping field.   Local noise ordinance must be observed (keep the noise down after 11 PM)

As in the past:

* There is limited power and water available in the field, first come, first serve.  Bring your own drop cords and splitters!
* All camp and cooking fires must be off the ground!
* No generators after 11 PM.
* All dogs must be on a leash and owners MUST clean up after them.
* Camping fee for the field is $5 per person for the weekend (plus spectator fees if applicable).

Camping in the RV Area:

* RV sites are on a gravel lot and have water and power hook ups and are within walking distance of the show.
* You may set up camp in the RV area beginning on Thursday.
* Camping fee for the RV area is $10 per site, per night (regardless of the type or size of the RV or the number of people camping).  Tent camping is allowed in this area, but the same $10 per site, per night fee applies.  Spectator fees are separate.

Is there any camping spots with hook ups there? Thinking of bringing my camper. Worst case, I'll be across the street camping.

There is a fully RV lot near the arena at Camp Jordan. Its maybe 200 yards up the road. Very very close. Instead of $5/person for camping in the field that we charge, Camp Jordan charges $10/RV per night. If you have 2 people stay two nights, its still only $20 with the hook ups!

Von Hot Rod will be returning this year. He has proven to be a popular addition to our show, pin striping everything from your VW to guitars, shoes, and anything else.

If you need a hotel room, our group rates are even better this year than they were last year.

Our host hotel is the Best Western Plus Arbour Inn and Suites, located across the street from Camp Jordan. If you've got a trailer or car hauler, they have a large parking lot to accomodate you.

Rates at the Best Western Plus are $69.99 for a standard king room, $79.99 for a standard double room, or $89.99 for a king or double standard suite. Call (423) 893-7979 and mention Bug-a-Paluza to get these rates.

At the entrance of Camp Jordan is the Motel 6, also with great rates. $32.99 for a single (one person) room or $41.99 for a double (2 person or king) room. Call (423) 894-1417 and mention Bug-a-Paluza to get these rates.

Was looking at the latest Hot VWs magazine and one of the letters to the editor mentions Bug-a-Paluza.  Maybe it will bring some extra attention and people for you.

We hope so! We're running an ad for Bug-a-Paluza 15 in the next issue. Two years ago, the editor in chief Bruce Simurda came down and did a full article on our show. We've invited him back to do the same this year.

I just joined this club, but I was at this show a few years ago and it was great.  This time bringing the wife and kiddos.  I just bought an Invader GT that with any kind of luck will be in the show next year.  Next I need to talk my wife into buying a VW for herself...

We've got TONS of great door prizes this year. First up, you could win a transmission from Rusty Bottom Garage! We are excited to have RBG as a sponsor so check out their booth at the show and look for a chance to win.

There will be more to announce as we get closer to the show, so stay tuned!
