Bug'n in July 2007/ Decatur, Alabama/July 14/15

« on: April 09, 2007, 07:52:09 PM »
This taken from Central Alabama VW Club's fourms-

The North Alabama VW Club's annual charity event, this year benefitting Crisis Servies of North Alabama (the parent organization for Hope Place, Helpline, S.A.N.E., etc.). Classes for air and water, as well as engine and stereo sound-off ($25 to show, or $20 preregistered with postmark before July 1st).

UPDATE - The CAVWC has lowered their price for showing.  The actual figures are $15 pre-registered, and $20 at the show. The higher prices came about early in planning, when they were reeling in sticker shock (initially, the park had casually doubled the venue rental fee, and they were hopping to cover ever-rising costs. The park did agree to make an exception for a charity event. Their members felt strongly about holding the line on costs to those who came to show, and so they retracted the raise in cost - but on the Internet, nothing really dies...so help get the word out!

Lots of camping, toy/parts/tee-shirt vendors, concessions, an engine blow, and the famous waterpark. Gates open at 8 both days, with free parking/admission (donations to Crisis Services accepted); show once again under the giant Events Pavillion, so it's rain-or-shine. Hope to see you and your Volkswagen(s)!

Sooooo....Who's going? Only a month away...
Some updates; preregistration in only $15,
not $20, and regular is $20, not $25 (although
our costs, like everyone else's, have risen, many
members felt strongly about holding the line on
fees). We'll have engine and stereo soundoffs,
like last year; new this year, however, is RC VW
drag racing, with trophys (electric only, please).
As we are not scheduled agaist any local shows
this year, we anticipate the biggest Bug'n yet!

I'm planning on spending the weekend there!  It's a nice campground and excellent venue for a show . . . but I bet y'all will have too many VWs to get them all under the pavilion this year!   8)

Zen,
We should have such problems-oy! I am
interested in seeing what this year's turnout will be-
I heard a rumor the water-cooled guys might make
a showing this year. Also, there will probably be a
few that went to the other show last year, but want
to do both this year. Add in some that simply have
not attended before, and we may well be squeezin'
'em in, nose to tail-I hope!
Lauren, we'll get you under there somewhere, lol.

Saturday (easy for me to say)...I'm assuming
we'll have some sort of ad hoc cruise as we did last
year (don't quote me, I only make decisions about
toy VWs lol).

:D Hands down one of the best shows in the SE. The pavillion made it super nice and the BBQ was unreal. I am so glad I was able do at least one show before selling Copper Jewel. Another group that has some of the greatest members to associate with. No snobs that look down on others.  I wish you all a great turnout this year. Maybe in the future I can get another VW fixed up. Maybe another "Copper Jewel"!!!! LOL

Nor I, thus the phrase "ad hoc" lol...I think it
was decided on the spot after Saturday's part of
the show shut down-bunch of VWs played a loose
game of follow-the-leader to a local eatery (if I
have that right, and I might not, as I wasn't there).

Lauren, I spoke with one of our club officers at
our monthly GTG, and he said we would indeed be
doing a cruise Saturday (07/14) around 6PM. Got
to see the plaques and show shirts (more big folks
sizes this year, as this was a complaint last year).
