It was a very small show and swap meet, but it was cool that it was covered... of course if it gets much bigger they wont be able to keep it completely under cover. was good to meet some more of you :) and nice to see CJ in person :)

VW Girl, I did not know who you were till after the show was completely over. I am sorry I did not personally introduce myself to you. I pretty much stayed with the car except when taking pictures of devouring the BBQ!!! Now that you have seen me, do you still have all of your sight in both eyes???     Some folks have been known to poke their eyes out after seeing me....[/quote]

I've been out of pocket this past week but I want to throw my CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!! to Moe and Josh for their awards and to Kyle and Betty for their award. We had a pretty good crowd to attend, also and I thank those of you who were able to make it down.

I've got a few pictures of the "goings on" Saturday but, regretfully, I wasn't there on Sunday for the awards.

This is turning into another great Southern show and I personally want to encourage everyone who can to attend next year. The facilities are wonderful.

Thank you Herb. We appreciate it very much. I agree this location is great. Beats setting up on ASPHALT to EXPOSE your car!!!

Well, Lauren, at least I came up and introduced
myself lol...I agree that the number of vendors could
have been greater; some of that (but not all) comes back
to Expo having their show the same weekend. I can't blame
a vendor who picks the venue he/she thinks will produce
the most sales; that's what vendors are there for in the first
place. It may also be that the early rain Saturday scared
some of them off; whatever the cause, I'll be sure to bring
this up tonight, at our meeting.
As to the size of the show, again, we hadn't planned
for another show to be that weekend; in fact, we considered
dates from April to October in order to avoid conflict. With
any luck, we will plan for another weekend in 2007 (say, the
14th; the big show that weekend is usually Waterfest). On
top of that, we had a small water-cooled turnout; last year,
H2O Tuning came out with around a dozen cars, but chose
not to do so this year (I don't think they went to Expo, so
perhaps they just didn't want to show).
In any event, your gripes are welcome, as that
is how things get fixed; known problems are addressed in
club meetings after every show, and we'll do the same with
this one. Hope to see again next year; sorry your buddy
beat you out for longest distance!

I have no gripes, I thought it was a cool show! I got some stuff at the swap meet... $200 worth i think... the bf bought a bunch of stuff too. I think the trophies are awesome! I am not sure whether I like those or the bugapaluza rods better... both are pretty cool and I am happy to have in my collection!

I was just saying that if the show gets much bigger than it is then there will not be enough room under the pavilion... and I thought it was awesome to have a show under cover!

it was a tough choice to decide what show to go to... but since you convinced me i needed to have alabama on the map and that's where the other chattavegas peeps went... that's why i decided on that show... that and the fact that it was covered!

I posted this on the NAVWC Yahoo group site, which they were kind enough to let me join in on last month. The title to the post over there is "Coincidence or Fate???

8)   Remember my story of how I had a blow out on the trailer coming home from the show? I got off  at exit 225 if I remember correctly, the Hartselle exit and went into town to seek help. Young man (Josh) at O'reilys parts store gave me some numbers  and got the flat fixed. Well since that date I have been shopping around for a new trailer(I am keeping this one because my wife told me I was). Went down to Grantville, Ga today and got a good, no a great deal I feel on a new trailer, solid metal floor, brakes, new tires ( I MADE SURE OF THAT), recessed tie downs, and so on. A real car hauler not utility trailer like I had before. Now here is where the title for this story comes from. I'm sitting here at work at 4:30 am reading over all the documents  and getting things in order to go get the tag Monday. I read down on the Manufacturers Statement of Origin and see that it was built by NORTH ALABAMA TRAILERS, LLC.      Wait it gets better!! They are in HARTSELLE, ALABAMA          I damn near fainted!!!  I find it interesting I am coming home from the show put on by NORTH ALABAMA VOLKSWAGEN CLUB and have some problems on the way home from the show and wind up in HARTSELLE looking for help. Anyone else see a word pattern here?? LOL Any way, just had to share this little story with you good folks. Again thanks for a great show and your hospitality......

Holy Cow OS, You mean Ala. has pavement ? I have found out that Tn. has places with pavement here and there also. Dang !! There goes the Old South. How in the heck are the "Big Hair coupe chixs" with their '78 "one eyed Firebirds with rear tires a yard wide going to cope with the thought of not being able to sling red clay and rocks when they leave the local Watering Hole. It just wouldn't be same.

LOL!!  No OS, the show was on CONCRETE under a pavillion. The dust show was in Carrollton. And I definitely was not singling out you and your preference in choice of attendance and or preference of surface type. Just a reference to display conditions at various events.....

It may have been built by the same folks that did
Point Mallard's...the steel uprights look much the same.
Decatur is decidedly bigger, though, as it used to be the
ice rink; when they finished the new rink a few years
back, some smartie thought to keep the pad/uprights/roof,
and so the park has a dandy venue (about 100' by 250').
You can get spoiled real quick; being able to turn up your
nose at the rain (we did have some Sat. morning), not to
mention the blazing sun, is a God-send.
