Beaches 2002 show - Please don't be mad!

Ok, I have been talking to the folks at the Jacksonville Beach location for our two shows. It seems that the lot will not be under construction and we can have the show. I looked at the calender and all weekends of the month of April are full, so I proceeded to email members about doing it in March. Well, it seems they would like to keep it the same weekend as they have for the past few years(which I don't really blame them).But I didn't want to state the reason that we couldn't was because I wouldn't be there(That would be really self centered!)!  But, that would make this date fall on you all's. So That means after their meet this weekend, it is very possible that they will proceed to have it that weekend. The only thing is, as I informed them, that it would be totally up to them to do it as I WILL BE IN TeNN THAT WEEKEND ! I really hope I can trust these guys in doing this! I have been running that show for the past 4 years and hate for it to get hurt. And I also know that some of you wanted to attend too.
   Well, just had to vent this to you guys and hope for the best! :3dconfused:  :3dconfused:

I can't speak for everyone, but I know that you've done your best to get it moved to another weekend.  If it turns out they proceed with the same weekend as our show, well, I'll be disappointed because I can't go, and some folks in middle and south GA will go to Jacksonville instead of our show, but I won't be mad . . . at them or especially at you Kathy!

We proved last year that the shows are far enough apart to both be a success even if they do fall on the same weekend.  I wouldn't expect or want you to do anything that is going to hurt your club or the Beaches shows.  Just get us 4 pages in Trends with color next year and we'll be happy and still love you!  LOL

Speaking of that, Thanks again!  I still have a hard time believing we made VW Trends!!!!  Right after Bug-A-Paluza 2 I was really didn't think the Volks Folks would exist in April of 2001, much less have a show with over 100 cars written up in VW Trends!   :colgate:

Boy, I really would like to go to the beach in March...maybe they will change their mind and their date.

Yep, Jax Beach in March would be nice . . . especially since I have a brother-in-law with a big house there and can stay for free! . . . and if I ever finish it, as if I've really started :blush: , I have Manx that would be nice to cruise the town in.

So don't take my first post wrong . . . my vote is for the Jacksonville folks to have their show in late March or EARLY April . . . or any weekend after our show.

Wow, Kathy.  It looks like a good number of Volks Folks would be able to make it to Jacksonville for a beach show in March...but, do what you got to do.  I, for another, would not want you to do anything to jeopardize the sucess of your shows.  

Ahhh...the sand between the toes and the relentless and neverending crash of the surf...and a bunch of VWs. :inlove:

I was born in Jacksonville, and my hometown is Callahan (about 30 mi. due north).  It would be great to go to the show there.  However, having lived there plenty of springs, I recommend packing a jacket next to your Speedos, just in case!  It's usually about 10 degrees cooler than Miami.
The Amelia Island Concours is on March 9-10.  Webpage
Would you be avoiding that date?  If not, catching both shows in the same weekend would be an awesome experience!

I just looked on the Southeastern VW Events Planner and didn't see anything posted yet, so the date still might be up in the air.  I just sent Kathy Jacobs and email to see if she knows anything yet.

UPDATE:  Just got an email back from Kathy.  She says it looks like they are going to go ahead with their show the same weekend as ours (April 20-21).  She'll know for sure after they meet this Saturday.

:mecry:  Ok, they all decided to have it on the same weekend as yall's. Sorry. They wanted to work it around me, but I am sooooo busy that just wasn't possible and to hold it about the same time as they have for the last several years, that is the only date. We could pick another April date but there is a Florida show on those, so that will not work either.
   I will be up there with you guys so this one will be totally up to them to do! Lets just hope that everything will turn out ok. That means I have to get to work in getting some things done for that show. I do wish we could work it out so you all could come, but maybe next year.  :3dconfused:
   Ok back to life :tounge:    Glad you all liked the coverage in trends! I know they screwed up some of the captions and those people know that I knew exactly who was in the picture and will not be mad at me! I couldn't have done it without you all's help!
