Trapped In My Karmann Ghia

Let the verbal abuse begin!! Soon after I got my Ghia home, I got it running, I drove my Karmann Ghia around the house into the carport to fix the brakes. I  did. I was sitting in the car just admiring it all when I decided to figure out the seat belts. The car has non-retractable lap and shoulder belts that have to be adjusted to fit each user. The latch used a single steel loop the attaches to the chassis tunnel. Very weird. Anyway, I adjusted both belts and latched it secure. Now keep in mind, this was at night and the lights inside the car do not work. No mirror light, No dash lights. I drove it back around the house, where it was very dark and parked it. I could not get the seat belt off. I could not figure out the latch. I could not move, I could not turn around. I had no light and not a clue how to escape. I fought with it for what seemed to be 8 or 9 hours. Reality was about 5 minutes. If I were claustrophobic, I would have died right there. After I got it off, I looked at the release and thought, “Now that was simple!” The entire mechanism lifted up and I was trying to push a button that did not exist.
Now here is the funny part. I took my young daughter for a ride a few days later. I was going to get out and leave her in the car to figure out her escape. But before I could carry out my evil plan, she was out of the car and waiting for me to get out.
Anyway I’m out and laughing at myself, so now it is your turn.
