Recycling road story

« on: January 25, 2011, 08:56:22 PM »
So it is Saturday,  Been a busy Xmas season.  WoW.  4 garbage cans of aluminum cans. Thats alot of "soda"  I have no place for trash.  I suppose it is time to haul em to the recycler.  I bum a truck from Frank,  and promise to share the spoils.  Christopher  really wants to get rid of the cans.  He gets some spoils to.  Chris and I load the cans to Franks truck. Off we go.

Selling cans nets me 18 bucks,  I give Chris 8 bucks,   Now I'm driving back down the highway.  I forget about the trash cans in the back.   Woosh.  Cans go sailing out the back.  They scatter all over Hwy 27. In the rear view,   I crinch as I watch all the cars swerving around to avoid the rolling plastic cans.  For 30 seconds, I'm worried that somebody is gonna stop and call me a name or worse.  Whew... They drive by.  I let out a sigh of relief.

Now its about 28 degrees and the run away trash cans are about 100 Yards behind me.  I still got it.. running down the highway, in 28 degree weather an a Saturday morning.    Feels good, refreshing..   I round up the stray cans , look out for cars and start running back. The wind is in my face,  my eyes water,  I'm tired.. Man.. I got to get in shape.   I weez back to the truck,  stuff the cans together real tight and drive home..

Upon Arrival, I discover the one of the cans is cracked up.  Dangit it,  Its one of my new trash cans.  So the net take  for todays recycle. + 18 bucks,  - 8 bucks to Chris,  - 6 bucks for natty light for Frank.  Leaves me with 4 bucks. The trash can cost me 12 bucks.   My net income for today is -8 dollars. I'm mad. I'm Bored.  fix the can.  Here is a pic of the refurbished trash can.    SC

The worse part is that its really hard to throw a trash can away. Even a bad one. They never seem to pick them up

Don't forget to add to the equation that gas is now $3/gal and that you had to use some to transport your cans!

I never thought about throwing away a trash can... guess I never really had a need too... They make good storage bins!
