One weekend, 2 shows

« on: July 25, 2010, 08:26:49 PM »
Yesterday morning about 10:15 AM (Eastern Time) I was in Trion, GA fixing my brake lights (after one of Chattooga County's finest kindly pointed out they weren't working).  About 1:00 PM (central time) I pulled into Bug'n in July in Decatur, AL (the other side of Huntsville).  About 7:00 PM I arrived at my brother's house in Christiana, TN (just outside of Murfreesboro, TN.  Left there this morning about 6:15 AM (central) and arrived at the Knox Volks Summer Jam in Knoxville, TN around 10:30 AM (eastern).  Left there around 4:00 PM and got back to LaFayette around 7:00 PM.

It was a blast, but I'm tired.  I'll post some pictures later.

Dr. Fieldingood and I caravaned back to Chat-town together and ran up on these guys on the side of 1-75 and stopped for moral support.

The breakdown was due to the plastic piece that snaps over the points cam on the electronic ignition broke apart.  The guy broke out his tool bag and pulled out a zip lock bag of points, condensors and screws and had it running in pretty short order . . . well, after he figured out the first condensor he used was bad.

I just looked at a map and realized that the Knoxville Pull-A-Part is less than 3 miles from the Knox Volks Summer Jam show grounds . . . and their current VW inventory includes:

VW BEETLE 1974
VW CABRIO 1996
VW DASHER 1981
VW DASHER 1978
VW FOX 1988
VW GOLF 1990
VW JETTA 1997
VW JETTA 1994
VW KARMANN GHIA 1970
VW PASSAT 1996
VW PASSAT 1995

Dang.  I wish I'd know that last weekend.   :(

I would have headed there as soon as the awards were done at Summer Jam . . . The yard closes at 6 PM.  That would have given me about 2 1/2 hours @ Pull-A-Part and I would have gotten home around 8:30.  I'll have to remember that for next year . . .  ;D
