Earlier this evening, Homer got rear-ended. Or was it front-ended? Or rear-ended in the front? Anyway he got hit.
After the Volks Folks left Ingle's parking lot heading for the Ringgold Christmans Parade line-up, I got caught up in traffic. When I got to the line-up area, everyone else had already lined up and parked and a lady in a mini van was behind the last VW. 3 or 4 JROTC kids got out of the van and the lady started backing up to turn around. I had stopped about 15 feet behind her and she had enough room to back up and turn around, but since there wasn't anyone behind me, I thought I'd give her some more room. I put it reverse, looked in the mirror and started easing back slowly. After backing up 15 or 20 feet, I looked up and the mini van was about 3 feet from Homer's nose going at least 10 MPH faster than I was! Note to self - It's about time you fixed that horn! #-o When the mini van hit homer, I swear I heard glass and plastic breaking and metal crunching. She pulled forward a couple of feet and hopped out with her hands half covering her face and in broken English saying "I'm Sorry! I'm Sorry!" I stepped out and my first though was no one is hurt, so it isn't "that" bad . . . but there's enough damage for the insurance company to total Homer. Not really wanting to, I peaked around the door at Homer's nose. I put on my reading glasses and looked again. Took off the glasses and looked again. There's a small spot of yellow Krylon knocked off the bottom of the bumper . . . and I had to look several times to find that! The mini van had a pretty good sized scuff in the plastic bumper cover . . . and I bet there is some bent metal underneath the cover. Considering how hard the impact was, it's amazing that both vehicles didn't suffer hundreds of dollars of damage.
Homer might not have won the bought by a knockout, but he did win. Now I just got to talk him into retiring undefeted! He thinks he's tuff  . . . I gott'a convince him he was just lucky.
